Breakfast Topic: Is WoW inherently sexist? {WoW}

May 17th 2011 11:56AM Oh thank GOD someone else thinks Drizzt Do'Urden is a Mary Sue. My boyfriend had me read a bunch of those books and I was like, they're alright, but WTF is with the characters? None of them have any real depth.

May 17th 2011 11:38AM With regards to the "4-chan mentality" part...

This is pretty much rampant throughout the game. I find it more fun to roll with the punches and throw an equal number of my own.

Guildmate: you can only come on this heroic if you cam-whore for us, cos-playing as a Tilted Kilt girl.
Me: Aw, I'd love to, but your unemployment money isn't enough to afford me.

Guildmate: brag brag brag brag
Me: Ooh, really? You can have a gold star AND a cookie!
Guildmate: Sweet, can I get a happy ending too?
Me: I'll see if I can get you a discounted rate since you're in mourning. (a close relative had just passed away, so i thought I'd play nice =P)

Me: You can have otherguy go with you on this run. He's more charming than me anyway.
Guildmate: Yeah, but I wouldn't let him *slang term for orally gratifying* me. You, I might.
Me: Gee, I'm honored. Would you be providing the microscope and tweezers I need or should I bring my own? (Yes, I stole that from tank girl)

My guild is filled with sexist pigs and the women who find them amusing, what can i say? For all their big talk though, they're a bunch of teddy bears and I love them all to bits.

Random dude: There are no girls on the Internet!
Me: Tis true! No shrinking lassies allowed! Ye must be a bold woman to brave these waters! Yarr!

May 17th 2011 11:11AM Appearence-wise, I think it's a pleasure to look at attractive people. We're hard wired as a species to find certain characteristics sexually attractive. Fantasy art, and really MOST art that is based around the human form (at least historically) attempts to give us as many of the features that seduce us as possible. It probably IS sexist, but to an extent, people like looking at people who fit a certain archetype of sexiness.

If you look in womens' magazines, you will find it is filled almost entirely of pictures of attractive females. Even straight women like sexy women!

Scattered Shots: Hunters and patch 4.1 {WoW}

Apr 29th 2011 10:31AM @Twill

This is the macro I have for my instant-cast shots:

#showtooltip Arcane Shot
/targetenemy [noexists, noharm, dead]
/stopmacro [noexists, noharm, dead]
/castsequence reset=1 !Aspect of the Hawk, null
/cast Arcane Shot

The "/castsequence reset=1 !Aspect of the Hawk, null" is the part that ensures i'm in aspect of the hawk for all my instant shots. My cobra shot/fox macro is now:

#showtooltip Cobra Shot
/targetenemy [noexists, noharm, dead]
/stopmacro [noexists, noharm, dead]
/castsequence reset=1 !Aspect of the Fox, null
/cast Cobra Shot

I have my "castsequence" shots on the #2 bar (the one you get when you click the down arrow of your main bar). My #1 bar has cobra shot without the cast sequence modifier. I primarily use the shot without the modifier and flip aspects when i need to manually, but in movement heavy fights, if i'm learning a new fight, or for pvp, i find the cast sequence macro to be invaluable.

Hope that helps!

PS - i'm pretty sure the exclamation point before the Aspect of the ______ is what keeps it from turning the aspect off once its on. I'm not a macro writing expert, i mostly just cobble them together with stuff i find on the internet.

Apr 29th 2011 2:47AM Do they both refresh with cobra shot/chimera shot?

Scattered Shots: Hunters and patch 4.1 {WoW}

Apr 28th 2011 7:53PM None of the shots automatically pick a target anymore. You will have to manually target via clicking the mob or using tab. This is what fixes the bug where mobs were being automatically targeted if your current target died midway through a cobra or steady shot cast.
The hunter community on the forums has been pretty divided over this, with lots of QQ and name calling on both sides. I personally don't like the change as I nearly never had issues before, and found manually targeting mobs during an all out aoe phase to be a pain. There are macros that you can make that will allow you to emulate the old targeting system. I'm using this one:
#showtooltip Shot Name
/targetenemy [noexists, noharm,dead]
/stopmacro [noexists, noharm, dead]
/cast Shot Name

Works like magic. If you have a cast sequence macro for aspect switching, you can put it in as the second to last line. At least that's where I have mine, it might be better someplace else.

Breakfast Topic: Do your kids play WoW with you? {WoW}

Apr 23rd 2011 12:41PM I lol'd. And I upvoted you.

Breakfast Topic: Do you have a favorite race? {WoW}

Apr 22nd 2011 1:35PM Draenei. Why? Because...
I like big butts and I cannot lie. You other brothas can deny. When a girl walks in with an itty bitty waist and a round thing in your face you get sprung!

Seriouslytl though, i like the idea of a virtually immortal alien race crashing into a planet and becoming one with it's populace, rather than trying to take over or worse, be attacked and maligned in misunderstanding.

Also, I love the dwarves. My little inner story for my Draenei huntress has her having learned common from the dwarves, as well as the finer points of hunting, drinking, and partying.

Apr 8th 2011 10:03AM Soon means different things to different people. Jamaicans use "soon" for just about any length of time. So like, if you ask one "when's Charlie coming back?" they'll say "soon come" no matter if it's three hours, three days, three weeks, or three years.
So imagine that blizzard is a Jamaican, and let it go.

WoW Rookie: How to become a PvP legend, step 1 {WoW}

Apr 7th 2011 12:02PM ...I'm still mostly a clicker for my spells though. But the key for that, I've found, is putting you most commonly used spells near the center of your bars and your less commonly used ones further away, with bindings near your movement keys for your "oh crap!" buttons (like disengage, deterrence, and feign death for my hunter).
