Breakfast Topic: Tank anxiety {WoW}

It's 16 - are you adding a racial bonus? Anyway, soft cap is 26. *You* might be confortable with less expertise, other tanks might not - don't say that pallies as a rule shouldn't gem for it, please, it's missleading.

Aug 4th 2010 7:15AM Nah see, about 3, to a tank that's gonna look like you're doing it on purpose and stress the hell out of him. Also looks like you just refused to assist him, meaning hitting his target - you chose to pick the loose target, the one farthest from the group. Unless you told him why you were doing that, that's a major source of frustration for the tank - he'll try to taunt and you keep making his job hard by still hitting the same target. You know, I am leveling another tank now and always ask why people hit the one target I don't have aggro on... until I read your comment, I always assumed they just pick an easy target and are too self absorbed to take aggro mechanichs into account. This kind of behavior, even if you totally mean no harm by it, causes that anxiety. Yes, your gear permits you to do that, but what if it didn't? What if you die? Then I have failed as a tank. It's nerve wrecking.

Aug 4th 2010 3:32AM I've always been a tank - specced into it from lvl 10 and kept with it. My other two alts are also tanks. However, I still get that anxiety. I've become a kingslayer, downed Halion, am the best equipped tank in the guild, but I still get nervous when tanking (which is always haha). You can't "cure" this, no matter how experienced you get imo. You are assuming anxiety comes from being afraid of being complained at - untrue, anxiety comes from being afraid of failing as a tank. I die a bit inside when I see someone else getting aggro, even for a split second.
Btw, am also female, if that matters any.

Breakfast Topic: What's your story? {WoW}

Jul 27th 2010 8:31AM I don't RP per se, but I do make up stories about my characters and situations they are in. At first, I leveled a mage till lvl 30 with a friend's shaman, then decided to make a pally tank - quickly leveled him so I could catch up to the friend shaman. So this story was formed: the paladin was in love with the shaman and wanted to protect her; ovbiously, the mage would become his rival, since he was there first and loved her too. I've been thinking up conversations between them: pally taunting mage that he cannot protect the woman he loves so he should back off. The shaman is supposed to be oblivious of this quarrel. Pally is also smug and inept at confessing his feelings. At one point, pally had a crush on a dk (raid leader), but they had a falling out (raid leader left guild). So every little thing that impacts the game translates into his little story. Also all other characters are linked to my pally - rogue is older sister, hunter is ex-girlfriend etc. It's fun to make up a motivational backstory.
