Mar 14th 2011 11:54AM Don't panic!
Mine, like a poster before me, is better than a year old at this point. I want to say my fiance surprised me with it about a month before the corehound promotion (which actually complicated obtaining said pet; those of us who had authenticators previously had to wait for some reason) and both of our authenticators are still going strong.
This should be particularly reassuring because I really give mine a workout. I DC often from tabbing out while moving, I forget to reactivate my num lock after my computer goes to sleep (for some reason it consistently turns itself off) causing me to have to redisplay the numbers multiple times, or to get new ones altogether, depending on whether or not I've had my coffee, and on top of that, I play pretty consistently. Rare is the day that I don't at least log in once. Most days, I log in more than once.
Mar 14th 2011 11:49AM Ugh, this. My fiance and I have been running a pair of toons together and this is driving me crazy. Up in Hyjal, just about every damn thing you have to kill, you have to kill twice to get credit. He summoned down the harpy by snuffing the signal fire? I couldn't talk to her. And of course, the obligatory gather-crap-off-the-ground quests are miserable with a friend...
It's funny, though not in the haha way. This is an MMORPG, but the quests seem not only designed to ALLOW for solo play, but to more or less FORCE it. Apparently groups are only for dungeons now or something.
Mar 11th 2011 5:48PM I think your idea was cooler than the actual implementation =\
Mar 11th 2011 5:47PM This nearly made me snarf my coffee. I forgive you for the Oculus because you made me laugh.
Mar 11th 2011 2:53PM @Maribel - better memory than me! I had totally forgotten that, and it goes all the more to my point that they're probably a couple.
Mar 10th 2011 7:38PM Mik's Scrolling Battle Text (available from Curse) can be configured to do what you want as well. It may take a little time, and you have to have an idea of what it is you're trying to track, but there's a notification field for when things come off cooldown with an optional sound and customizable location/size/colour/font, and there is another field that you can get your proc notifications from with the same series of options.
If you're a mage or a moonkin, the addon MageNuggets handles procs, and cooldowns, among other things, and, in the case of the moonkin, what you need to cast to advance toward your next eclipse state.
Mar 10th 2011 7:26PM Nng, should have specified. First paragraph of your FIRST comment. I have no intent to drag the moral debate any further than the game just now, which is unusual for me, but seeing others' responses, I figure I'll only get angry anyway.

While it isn't canon, with the way they banter, Peacekeeper Jadaar and Investigator Asric leave room for interpretation. In a game where romance is, as alluded in the original response, a sidebar at most, that's really all we have to go on. Maybe I'm just smitten with the idea, but they do bicker like an old married couple.
The quest Quae Trusts You (http://www.wowhead.com/quest=26114) also suggests... something. Kin and Quae may be sisters, they MAY (though this would be BS imo) just be long-term workmates with a deep and abiding concern for each other, but, "And keep her safe, you hear me? " reads to me like the concern of a sister or a lover, not just a colleague. This is someone VERY important to her.
I'm in agreement with the first paragraph. The second one was just unnecessary. The point wasn't whether or not you approve of the in-game pairings, it was whether you'd noticed them or not. The first half is still relevant as it addresses why we DON'T see them. The pairings you see are generally the parents of some important progeny. We know Varian Wrynn is a widower; this is relevant only because of Anduin, really. Her role in the lore is minor enough that unless you're something of a lore buff, you're probably only vaguely aware of her existence (or were prior to her tomb being added to SW).
I will grant that the issue is morally controversial, even though it shouldn't be anyone's business but the involved consenting adults. However, if we start stripping things away based on what might offend people's sensibilities, we run into some serious blandness. Moira Thaurissan née Bronzebeard was kidnapped and "seduced via magical means" (http://www.wowwiki.com/Moira_Thaurissan#cite_note-0) by the now-deceased (more or less) Emperor Dragran Thaurissan. Does that mean Blizz SUPPORTS analogous real world behavior? No, but it happens. Having a homosexual couple, should it be somehow lore-relevant (e.g. Anduin won't take a wife and there's no heir to SW because of it, causing huge political unrest) would be no different. It's adding twists to the story, not waving flags in favor of certain behaviors.
Jan 30th 2011 9:45AM It amused me, reading through others' comments and seeing this one or that one leveling their hatred of pugs solely at this role or that role. Tanks are jerks. Healers are incompetent. Surprisingly few indictments of dps standing in stuff.
I've all but given up on doing on-level pugs. As someone stated earlier, as a tank, everyone expects you to know everything, to fix it if they face-pull, and handle all the interrupts alone (not kidding, this has happened to me, and I'm a prot pally; the ONE tank class that has to wait for 4.0.6 for our 10-sec-CD, off-the-gcd interrupt). Corla in BRC fears? My fault. Any one of the three casts on Ashbury gets through? My fault. Inferno jump? Chain lightning? And that's just the bosses.
I'm terrified to even try healing because during all the changes, I was working on a second moonkin, so I haven't had any experience of my own, and I watch how people treat healers who need to drink often, or worse yet, if someone dies.
I do still occasionally dps on my shaman, but even that can be a headache with the minute cooldown on hex and people not understanding how not to break it, or when it's the right time to break it. Tanks breaking sheep before hex, and me having to rehex, then wondering why I can't CC my mark on the next pull (which, of course, is executed before I can type 'hex on cd').
LFD would be a lot less awful if everyone could just take a chill pill before zoning in.
