Aug 16th 2011 7:39AM My brother is on the sex offender list. Why? Because nearly ten years ago, when he was 17, he got drunk (yes, he's stupid) with some friends and they passed out in his bestie's camaro. The following morning he woke up, had to pee really bad, and went to a nearby bush to take a leak. His head was pounding from the hangover so he didn't notice the four year old playing in the neighbor's yard, whose parents DID notice my brother, called the cops. Long story short, he got in deep shit and put on a fraking registered sex offender's list. Now every time he moves he has to notify local police and go door to door around his neighborhood and notify every neighbor that he's a registered sex offender. He's attempted suicide twice in the last three years because of this. Everywhere he goes he faces scorn. And no one will even be buggered to listen to his story; they automatically assume he's lieing and a pedobear. He won't even play WoW as he's completely paranoid about even being around children. He's uncomfortable around my wife and our children out of fear that someone will accuse him of something.
My whole point of this post is this: the person who made this discovery should have went to the GM or an officer and kept hush; let them deal with it. It'd be something else if X was hitting on kids/teens in the guild or posted his number to get one of them to call him. But without more facts, I think the /gquitters acted foolishly like a bunch of spoiled children. Whom amongst us all is without any sin or skeleton in our closet? It's one thing if he acted like a pedobear but how do we know? Perhaps he was an upstanding member of the guild? We don't know why he was on the list, simply that he was on it.
Why is it that in America once you commit one crime--or are simply convicted of it whether you did or didn't or there are mitigating circumstances--you're labeled as evil for the rest of your life? Some people DO reform in the penal system. In b4 massive arguments about repeat offenders (assuming that 100% of those locked up are repeat offenders and will repeat again, etc etc), or that I'm a pedo sympathizer, etc etc etc.
Jul 17th 2011 9:14AM I love this column. Christian Belt is a god of magecolumnwriting awesomeness.
For the tools commenting that arcane mages are two-button easysauce dps, yeah you could say that. But then I guess you can say all tanks are two-buttoners too. I mean, a paladin tank--button 1 = taunt macro, button 2 = crusader strike amirite? Hunters can be two buttons. Hell hunters can just sick their pets and be 0 buttons! Autoshot ftw??? Lol Imadrood I can tree lemme do my 2 button healz - rejuvenate, swiftmend, profit!!
What about dk's? Frost fever, plague strike, afk 15 seconds??? If you want to apply that kind of fail logic you can to every single class and every single spec. But it's failtastic logic. An arcane mage can two-button no more than any other class or spec in the game. As the author of this column pointed out, mana management is vital as damage dealt is linked to mana pool. Somewhere in WotLK mages took the class-tard role away from hunters and I don't get why. For as far back as I can remember, DK's and hunters have always been known as the class anyone can play aka the easymode classes, etc. I don't agree with that assessment (as my hunter needs a few dozen toolbars just to show all the vital crap I need on any given fight) but that type of stereotypical tard mentality has just transferred over to mages.
If you ask me, it's a warlock conspiracy. They're secretly getting the huntards and lolknights to side with them in making mages look like the easysauce dps class. 'Locks have always been jealous of mages. But that's just my opinion. What do I know? I play a huntard after all. And I do put the tard in huntard.
Jul 12th 2011 3:47AM Only because it hasn't been done yet (much to my surprise).
When you were a kid, did you like to blow bubbles? ...orly? B/c Bubbles is back in town and he wants your phone number.
*hides before incoming banstick*
Wait wait...QUESTION FOR THE QUEUE (and to deflect from above): Why is it all druids, irregardless of race, have the same forms? I know trolls can turn into bats instead of birds and I know the people who teach druidism all learned from Malfurion in a round about way. But wouldn't it make sense to have the basic forms modified by beasts the druid trainee grew up around? Example: Worgens get a dog form instead of kitty (but same mechanics, tree, etc); Tauren bear form is a kodo form, etc?
And how cute would a gnome druid be in this case!?!?! Kitten form, bearcub form, plant form, zomg it'd be a cutegasm in the brain, man. I
Jun 28th 2011 7:35AM I just went to www.worldofwarcraft.com and got this:
"We’ll be back soon!
The Blizzard family of websites is currently undergoing maintenance to improve your browsing experience. Thank you for your patience!"
Maybe it's rolling out shortly? The site was up an hour ago, I checked for any official word on patch release. Their twitter was last updated 6hrs ago so IDK!
Jun 28th 2011 7:16AM I get off work 1 hour after servers go down...but by the time I wake up they'll be live :D This, however, is irrelevant to what I truly intended to post here:
I want to thank all the writers at WoW Insider for doing an awesome job. Today marks one year since I discovered this site and I frakin' love it! I originally got hooked on Christian Belt's insanely insightful mage articles (and mutual love for watching warlocks die in a fire) and the writer's mysteries--does Sacco's hair REALLY smell like strawberry, after all?--and humor has kept me coming back.
And by far my fave is the Know Your Lore articles. I didn't know my WoW lore before last year. Now I drool everytime I see KYL (and KYL TFH editions) come across my screen.
I never comment on here but wanted to say great job, kudos, and thanks to all the writers here. And the commenters, too, whom always manage to give me a good chuckle one way or another :D
Dec 19th 2010 7:13PM The same bosses that dropped it last year in Nexus (mage boss, 2nd boss) and AK: Old Kingdom (other mage boss, 3rd boss) drop it this year. I don't know about reg, but I went in on heroic with a guildy and got it for myself in H NEX and her on H AKOK.
At 82, my paladin tank can run through both of those heroics without heals...just dps to expedite matters. I hope that helps anyone who didn't know yet that WOTLK's 2 heroics drop the christmas hat.
Aug 11th 2010 6:01PM You know, I had quit playing WoW back in December. I grew bored with having grinded my prot warr and mage till they were in full triumph gear and frustrated with prot warr AoE tanking. I quit the game for three months.
A friend convinced me to go back and, knowing my love for tanking, convinced me to try a paladin.
All I can say was it was love at first consecration, baby. I absolutely love my paladin. My WoW time has probably doubled its average daily amount because I love my toon. I leveled 1-15 doing quests and @ 15 threw my talent points into prot abilities and leveled 15-80 via the pugsystem. I haven't looked back; I love tankadins soooo much.
Regarding the changes to Holy Shield and holy power and all that stuff...to be honest with you, I wish Blizz would just leave prot pallys alone. We don't need no stinkin' holy powah. Let the rets and the holies have it. More power to my non-tanking lightwielding brothers and sisters! But as prot, I don't need it. I do just fine and dandy without it!
Please may the developer gods talk some sense into blizz. Don't screw up tankadins. Leave Holy Shield as it is. We don't need holy powah but if we must have it, make it so its charges affect, oh I don't know, make it so its charges increase the damage of Consecration or reduce the cast time of Exorcism by 0.5 seconds per charge (giving us a free instacast Exorcism to put in our rotation every 12 seconds).
Oh well...they'll do what they want, and I will be the first to admit that I didn't like paladins before WotLK and the changes in LK made them fun for me so here's having faith in Ghostcrawler :)
Jul 29th 2010 5:09PM I love these KYL articles, I didn't know much of the lore before and they're always so informative, good job wow.com!
