Apr 7th 2011 6:15AM I don't really see how this is going to fix the problem in a meaningful way. It may be a temporary fix, but will it really help with the core reasons there are so few healers and (especially) tanks in the dungeon finder? It's a bit like giving a child who goes to school each day to get beaten up and called names a chocolate bar to keep going - sure, now he has a chocolate bar, but does it make the entire experience of being beaten up and called names much better?
And once a large portion of them have the mounts/pets, are we going to be back to square one?
Mar 8th 2011 10:24AM Rated BGs, like many things I was so excited about in this expansion, were not what I had dreamed. I suppose like many others I was chomping at the bit to be able to queue for a BG like I normally did and then earn rating as a solo player or if I was in there with a friend or two. I thought rating would be based more on your interaction with the environment than with rushing goals (Children's Week is looming again and I, like many battle ground dwellers I'm sure, am dreading having the BGs more or less broken for the duration). I had even sort of hoped it would be more like the old system, where the more time you spend in BGs helped your rating (though I'm not sure this would be a hope I'd like to become a reality, as people with limited time would not be so keen. That being said, perhaps that shouldn't matter - hell, we could accept that our limited game time is a part of our life but not use it to take away from the experience of others...)
I'm not sure exactly if it's the rated BG system or the nature of guilds in the EU, but I've struggled to find many guilds who even go into rated BGs; most of the PvP oriented ones I've found have been Arena or nothing.
Mar 5th 2011 8:15AM I normally play comfortably at home, cut off from the real world! When I was a student I used to play on a laptop in the SU bar though. I stopped doing that when my boyfriend decided to watch some... questionable movies on the laptop, the most audible part of which coincided with a sudden drop in the music volume in the bar. Occasionally I would play in a cafe near my university as well, but once the UK smoking ban came in it ended my bar/restaurant/Happy Meal WoW playing days!
