The Queue: Lodur, Herald of the Elements {WoW}

Sep 26th 2011 2:41AM Hate to bring you guys this news, but your unofficial mascot has gone to the dark side... or, in this case, the pastel side.

Yep, that's John De Lancie, otherwise known as Star Trek's "Q," terrorizing ponies instead of a lone, chrome-headed captain. On the plus side, he's still trolling. Probably in his blood. =P

Patch 4.3: Tier 13 set bonuses revealed {WoW}

Sep 24th 2011 11:50PM "Feral, 4P -- Frenzied Regeneration also affects all raid and party members"

Wow. Little did feral tanks know they would be raid healing in Cataclysm after getting four pieces of armor. Lol.

Wonder if this is effected by the Frenzied Regen glyph. Probably not.

Patch 4.3: Rogue legendary, new raid difficulty, and other details {WoW}

Sep 14th 2011 5:38AM So, it seems Raid Finder isn't really a true raid finder. Always thought there was something fishy about it being implemented, but I kept thinking super-powered "Lucky Draw" buff. lol.

Oh, and Feral Druids called: they're feeling left out on the legendary love. Maybe if you let us dual-wield daggers... =P

Is it time to kill tanking? {WoW}

Aug 26th 2011 3:14AM WoW's aggro system is part of the reason I canceled my subscription (granted, it's a sliver compared to the bigger issue of roles).

Also, knowing how aggro works in WoW, it has me mulling over how the up-and-coming Guild Wars 2 will work. They keep saying aggro will stay with "the nearest party member," and that aggro switches by moving away from the mob while another player steps in. I'm a bit skeptical, but if it holds true it will complement the "soft trinity" (essentially instant mid-combat role switching) like a glove!

Speaking of which, for a wiki that has an insane amount of pre-release information, the Guild Wars 2 wiki has the shortest explanation of aggro I've ever seen. http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Aggro

MMO Roundup: Gamescom, Gamescom, and more Gamescom {WoW}

Aug 23rd 2011 4:16PM I have very high hopes for Guild Wars 2. Combat that's a hybrid of action and hotkey, dynamic events that any and all players can participate in and change the world (in a sort of tug 'o war back-and-forth style), a storyline focused on the player, and almost everything's setup in a way that encourages players to play together yet limit griefing and stealing. Oh, and there's Charr, which, IMO, are better designed than Worgen (even ignoring the failure with the female Worgen models, which have a severe case of chihuahua head).

Only thing I'm really bummed about is no mounts so far. Considering the dynamic event system lends well to exploration (finding hidden events) you'd think they'd add mounts for faster travel! Oh well, at least the waypoint system ensures I don't have to wait 10 minutes to travel across an entire continent.

The Queue: Isn't Christmas over? {WoW}

Jan 5th 2011 3:59PM Dear The Queue (or anyone within text-shot of this message):

I'm a Druid that's specced as DPS and tank (both feral, both dedicated specs). In the WotLK days, I always--or almost always--queued as tank when Dungeon Finder came into existence, and performed well in those heroics as well as new raids, according to comments from others. But ever since I've more than passed the gear limit required to get into heroics, I've never queued as tank and instead have queued as DPS, fearing that both my inexperience with these new heroics and my relatively timid personality make me more of a liability in that role than a help, not to mention I hate dealing with QQers and egos while in that role. Are these fears founded? Do you have any advice for this timid, but experienced, tank?

Making the dungeon finder suck less {WoW}

Jan 5th 2011 3:47PM That reminds me. Didn't we used to be able to /friend or /ignore people in the past in Dungeon Finder? I haven't been able to get that to work since the WotLK days, and I know I got it to work before. Someone from another realm is still on my /ignore list.
