The Light and How to Swing It: Retribution of patch 4.1 {WoW}

Mar 2nd 2011 5:51PM The problem with a lot of ret's offensive abilities is that they are hard countered so easily, almost all through offensive dispelling and stealing. Laotl, blessings, the Hand spells, AW, HoJ, and Repent are all dispellable. Take all that away and ret's utility is severely reduced. Of course, this is assuming that you're playing against someone that knows this, but in high-end arenas and bg's, this is the norm.

Considering this, it's no surprise that there was such a massive switch to a playstyle that uses a resource that deviated from our Achilles' Heel, and why it's removal has caused such negativity.

So let's address the main issue then. If Blizzard wants us to use our offensive and non-healing abilities, give RET and only RET some more dispel protection. Removing the dead zone on laotl would be nice as well.

But I digress, you want ideas for new offensive abilities. I assume you want a new idea, rather than something another class has. (SNARE)

Change eye for an eye instead of a chance to do dmg, chance to knockdown the caster and stun them for 1 sec, put like an 8 sec icd on it.

An ability that consumes all stacks of SoT to do all the damage it would do as a DoT.

Consecrate gives the paladin a speed boost while standing in it.
