Sep 12th 2009 8:09PM The one thing that I've not seen mentioned at all is how Blizzard already has a retail distribution model. If you can go into a store and buy a new game card/expansion box they can make an authenticator appear right next to it.
They aren't making money off authenticators, we've already seen them give them away 2 years in a row at BlizzCon. I think that the only reason shipping is high internationally is because they are a cryptography product that is regulated by US law.
If they were going to make them mandatory they would find ways to get them into people's hands for free (or very very cheap), and they would give grace periods.
Mar 30th 2009 11:46AM You do not need a hardware (the $6 one) authenticator to use the iPhone one. The iPhone app starts up and shows you a serial number that you enter on the website to initialise it. It's randomly generated, and you can reset it UNTIL you enter it on the website. After that, if you uninstall the app, reset the serial number or have to reset your phone and lose the app for any reason you'll be on the phone with Blizz.

Oct 14th 2006 7:44AM I think I'd want an Xbox live account and the hd-dvd drive.
Jan 5th 2006 10:15AM Making a wishlist. It's like the registry at Target, only better. Books, DVDs and music will just scan so you can look them up on Amazon when you get home. Other stuff you can take a picture of, so that Grandma knows to get you the sooper-dooper one.
