May 10th 2011 2:50PM the only time i ever quit for an extended period of time (february to december) was when TBC launched. i was a hardcore vanilla 40-man raider that got halfway through naxx40 when TBC hit. the gear scaling in TBC really pissed me off so i "quit".
the main example i remember was raging berserker's helm from vael in bwl. the first or second quest at honor hold gave a green helm equivalent to the raging berserker's helm. i wasn't happy and decided to quit.
then i came back because i was bored and $16/month for many hours of entertainment seemed like a solid choice. i haven't turned back since :)
May 10th 2011 12:13PM this whole thing was so fun until my favorite boss in the game is going to be defeatedout by a gimmick that people will vote for because they think it's funny :(
May 10th 2011 11:10AM i quit for 9/10's of BC, then WOTLK got me back hooked in, and i love cataclysm.
my guild is slowly dying (even the core of friends i've played with for years is starting to fade away, which i thought would never happen). so i've decided to roll an alliance priest alt on the same server (so i can still feel somewhat close to them if they log on) that i plan to raid with eventually. raids need healers, right? i'm really into the alt for some reason. i think it's because i've played horde for so many years that it's nice to see stormwind again.
i also play on a pvp server so i'm excited about killing them when i'm max level...we'll be on the same vent and i'll be eavesdropping on their locations >=)

May 4th 2011 2:02PM Yeah it would be great to be able to mail a guild invite. Thanks for your insight!
May 4th 2011 12:53PM Q for the Q:
What, in your opinion, would be the best way to make guild recruitment a little easier? Since Cataclysm came out, it's been getting harder and harder to recruit new members. I believe this is due to the fact that people don't want to leave their current guild due to perks, guild rep, etc.
As an officer in my guild, it is very difficult to recruit people for our 10m raid group. We want to get the raid guild achievements, so we do want people to join the guild to raid with us. We typically allow people to raid with us in their current guild as a trial, but even then there is a lot of resistance in joining up with us (this usually ends with the person not wanting to leave their guild, and us having to go recruit another new person).
Maybe other people reading WoW Insider have some insight on how to facilitate this given the current guild setup as well. Thankfully, we do have a core of 6 raiders that have been in our guild for a long time, so our raiding is not dead in the water (yet).
May 4th 2011 10:36AM vanessa vancleef - and the associated westfall quest line
as a horde player, i had no idea what was going on in the deadmines when i went in there on heroic...so i decided to level an alliance toon...westfall is now my favorite zone in the game, and vanessa vancleef is my favorite character
