Dec 12th 2011 8:13AM I think the point is missed for SWTOR, the initial "class" you choose is more of a "direction". You choose your actual "class" at level 10.
It'd be like saying you want to go Magic, then at level 10 choose mage or warlock.
You would never expect a warlock to be able to "respec" to a mage. At least in the traditional sense.
Also: everything being story driven, it makes 100x more sense to start a new char and go through the next "classes" story arch.

Nov 8th 2011 5:31PM I don't know if I agree with you when you say that Cata was designed for old players to return. I think it was absolutely for new players to get in and experience a 2010 game not a 2004 one. Or at least as much as possible.
As well as bringing old players back of course. But not solely for that purpose.
Saying that you are absolutely right in that those that quit, tried the "new" game will leave after the 2-3months of content they can get out of it.
Personally I think that's still a win for blizzard.
Nov 8th 2011 5:18PM Agreed
Nov 8th 2011 5:15PM Doesn't rift have 1.1 million? Not saying that's where they all went but still I think rift is the next closest MMO...however Blizzard is doing just fine.
I mean when you have 10x the next highest game shedding a few is ok I think.
I also expect to see more drop until Mist comes out. Unless they introduced something like the pet battle system before then.
Apr 2nd 2011 10:18AM @Dunraven My experience with rift has been very opposite, everytime I happen near a rift or go searching for one I always find allies ready to join up and defeat it. Also, as opposed to the way wow works I keep finding random players that will group with me for hours on end, I never ever saw that in wow. Endgame was the only way to group with same server players.
