Big stakes and the end of an expansion {WoW}

Dec 28th 2011 1:30PM I wish that I felt the same way...

While I like the first 6 fights of Dragon Soul, Spine and Madness are two of my least favorite fights in recent raiding. I don't get the sense of scale - Deathwing is SO big that I can't actually see enough of him to feel the size of it. (Possibly solved by a script command to move the camera back farther, I'll try that soon, and hope it doesn't interfere with actually doing the fight.) The fights themselves have no real "boss" that you're fighting, so I never feel like I'm killing Deathwing, so much as I'm killing adds and the boss just never shows up. And the mechanics are all fine individually, but I don't like the 'rinse and repeat but the repetitions are slightly harder' style of the fights.

I also feel like what we're doing emphasizes our role as bit players, there mostly so that the Aspects (with/including Thrall) can do their thing. The size of Deathwing makes it obvious that we couldn't really fight him ourselves. We're the people mentioned in speeches who the important guy couldn't have done his great thing without... but that's not who I want to be.

If the Aspects had to give up their powers for some reason, I wish instead of imbuing the Dragon Soul (which really was the hero of the raid) it'd have borrowed from the Ozumat fight and they'd imbued us. Instead of having us fight pieces of Deathwing because of course we're too small to fight him as a whole, make us bigger! I feel like it'd have been so much cooler to kill Deathwing as 20-ft-tall characters imbued by the Aspects for this one fight with the last of their Aspect-ness than it is to basically step on Deathwing's fingers so he falls off the cliff.

I envy those who are getting an epic feel from the Deathwing encounters, because my disappointment with them sours what's otherwise an excellent patch that I'm enjoying a lot.

Know Your Lore: Story development and why Theramore should burn {WoW}

Nov 20th 2011 5:23PM Your definition of "hint" is a bit off, perhaps. Here's the translation from the interview:

"The whole war will be ignited during the world event which leading the game into Mist of Pandaria. Theramore will be destroyed and the leaders of Alliance were outrageous at this matter and completely devote themselves into the war, which reach its peak on the continent of Pandaria. The Horde and the Alliance literally fought on the homeland of Pandaria, which pissed the pandarens off."

Gold Capped: Cashing in on the Molten Front {WoW}

Jul 25th 2011 4:30PM No one finished 3 days early due to server resets - it was one day early, partially because they were limited in which quests they were doing early on (i.e. getting an extra reset the first day didn't give you 25 extra marks, it gave you 4), and that exploit didn't last long anyway (hotfix note is on the 29th... so people got one, perhaps two extra resets, both of which at that point would have been the first phase).

It was possible to do it legitimately on the 19th, some people got the recipes the 18th.

Cory Stockton interview reveals more info on Firelands in patch 4.2 {WoW}

Apr 28th 2011 1:46PM They've answered that in the past, and the answer was basically "no". The slightly longer version is that since legendaries are all weapons, and weapons are the coolest upgrade you can get, they don't want to give people a weapon they'd use forever since it'd then remove the fun of getting an upgrade.

Hopefully at the very least they won't put any more Legendaries on the last tier of an expansion... doing it that way basically means you never really get any use out of it, since by the time you complete it you have the raid on farm. (Assuming they continue the farming shards model.)

Gold Capped: Profiting with tailoring {WoW}

Apr 14th 2011 3:16PM I'm using TSM the same way Daedalus is... though all this love it's getting as a universal gold making addon makes me feel like I'm missing something.

It's great for items you make and sell over and over again, but for anything else I want a good tradeskill window addon (ATSW). Auctioneer I keep around because TSM doesn't have the equivalent of a snatch list nor the Appraiser window, which I use to sell tons of items that have nothing to do with crafting.

So IMO no, it's not a replacement for ATSW and Auctioneer. It's a replacement for ZeroAuctions / APM / QA3. If you had one of those previously and still needed other addons for part of your gold-making, you probably still need those others along with TSM.

Feb 11th 2011 6:50PM There were BOA legs and rings datamined during the Cataclysm beta that will probably appear sometime, for example:

There was never any known source for them, so Tol Barad commendations is as likely as anything else.

Dec 13th 2010 4:43PM No, the Shadowspirit is definitely not on a cooldown.

You may be thinking of Truegold.

Around Azeroth: I can't remember if we said goodbye {WoW}

Oct 13th 2010 2:37PM I can't understand why Blizzard hasn't just made a Minor Glyph (the COSMETIC tier of glyphs!) to give Druids the old tree back if they want it. They don't have a form to tie it to anymore, so it could be something like "Whenever you cast , you gain the appearance of a classic Tree of Life for 10 minutes.". If it were a shapechange such as those from items it could be purely cosmetic. Spell could be whatever, but Swiftmend might work best since it's the Resto special ability.

Not having such a glyph, especially after raising the possibility of it when Druids first objected to losing the form, just seems kind of mean...

Insider Trader: Preparing for patch 4.0.1 {WoW}

Oct 11th 2010 5:11PM I'd say it depends how many inks you have. If you're talking about thousands, then I'd use whatever pricing information you have to try and make some of every glyph aside from the ones that have an extremely low market price. (And aside from those becoming charred.) If you have a few hundred inks, or a few dozen, then just focus on the class(es) you know - take a look at which glyphs you have now, which you'll want after the patch, and then make the ones that are different.

But definitely make glyphs tonight. You might not make the right ones, but you'll almost certainly make less gold if you wait and can only make 1/3 as many.

Insider Trader: Inscription and glyphs in Cataclysm {WoW}

Sep 28th 2010 11:29AM Do not, do not, do not wait until 4.0 to craft glyphs - you'll end up making 1/3 the profit you could if you make glyphs now. The price of all glyphs is increasing to 3 inks with the patch.

They're only removing about 15 glyphs (most are changing to a different glyph), so you can either look up that list or just make all glyphs - considering how many glyphs there are, losing your stock on 15 is a very small loss compared to only being able to make 1/3 as many glyphs come 4.0.

But yes, stockpile now; you want to grab as much as you can while we still have cheap adder's tongue etc and are able to trade Ink of the Sea for other inks.
