Lichborne: Tier 12 set bonus preview for death knights {WoW}

May 10th 2011 3:37PM I don't think this will be the case, as the 2 piece tanking bonus is incredibly lackluster comared to the 4 piece. Let assume that a DK with gear at this level will probably have crits hit for 40-50k (im talking about frost here, I'm not exactly sure about unholy), and have a crit chance of around 30%. Thus, since the 4 piece actually will do about 1500 dps when it is up, assuming no scaling, then 1500(.30) = averaging 450 dps. The tank piece on the other hand has a basically constant 400 dps. Also, the disease replacement is completely and utterly useless for any DK dps, as they shoul already be keeping their diseases up at all time, as they provide a great prtion of our damage. Therefore, there is no benefit in taking the tanking pieces over the dps ones, especially considering the stats you would lose if you were to do this. And, if your hypothesis was to indeed take place, Bliz would either nerf the tanking set or buff the dps set in order to keep things withing the status quo, and to keep things relativly simple.

Lichborne: Death knight beta diaries, part 3: Blood leveling in Vashj'ir {WoW}

Aug 25th 2010 1:13PM A couple of months ago, i was thinking about the gear increase the same way, that quest greens shouldn't outpace t9.5+ gear. However, when I thought about it, in a major content patch, ou can expect to upgrade your gear; for example, your t9 during 3.2 was replaced easily byy doing dungeons and casual raiding. However, since this is an exansion, and it is a very majorr patch, it can be expected that you upgrade items, not to mention that they have to make level 85's feel much more powerful than they did at 80. This brings me to my second point, which is the fact that this is not too drastic of a gear inflation. If you were playing vanilla you would remember that naxx epics were being upgraded by the first couple of quest in hellfire penninsula, which was annoying, but not a big deal. If the devs let you keep your gear one of the following will happen : 1) the content is balenced for toons in the 'bad' greens and blues then anyone who had a couple of pieces of t9 would be able to power through the content that the devs spent so much time on, or 2) it would be balanced around toons in wrath epics and therefore would be impossible to level through as a new alt without raiding done first. I think they have done it perfectally as if you have 264+ items, you will only replace them at 83-84, which still givs you some advantage over new toons. I know that i will be using bryntroll at least for 3-4 levels because of it's utility. So try to view this with a 'glass half-full' attitude and you will see that the gear upgrade is for the best
