Jun 8th 2011 6:48AM it actually removes most usefullness of this glyph in pve. why bother with soulswap at all and devote some cooldown-watch attention to it when it requires 2 gcd + 1.5 sec (less haste) to apply dots to a second target?
the way we were using SS was mostly to keep dots up on 2 different targets which worked great in some fights like halfus and the twin dragons. now, it's back to it's original intended design, e.g. save you a bit of time when transferring the dots from one target to the next.
thing is, with all the other timers of the dots, plus the fact that in order for SS to be efficient you need to active the "pull" portion of it while all dots are active on the source target, we most likely will end up not using it anymore. i'd rather change my rotation slightly and keep bane of agony on one target and bane of doom on the other and cast individual dots, than have to worry about that 30 sec cd.
the trade just doesnt seem fair - why sacrifice 15 secs of dots to the destination target, to save the remaining 5 secs on the source?
Jun 4th 2011 4:05AM about an eventual new hero class...
- it would have to be either Leather or Mail wearing (most unexploited)
- it would have to be healer / tank / dps kinda mix (a bit druid like)
on the type of magic/resource it could be using, lets have a look at what's left / most unused. They could also come up with something totally new, but lets just speculate for a moment.
fire: nah, we already have locks and mages on it
frost: mage and dk
nature: druid and shamman (ok technically shammy are using elements, but humour me - these are quite close)
fel / death: priests, locks and dk
light : pallys and priests
rage: warrior and druid.
arcane: only mage
focus: only hunter
this leaves us with focus and arcane as the most unused.
so now lets get a magical blender and put in focus, arcane, leather and mail in it and see what kind of milkshake we'd get out of it...
did i hear anyone say "bard" ?
so what would the gameplay look like for a bard class?
as healer, it would probably be a bit like a disc priest in the sense that if would focus more on shielding from damage (using buffs coming from songs) than healing against direct damage (although I can very well imaging an invigorating song that fills back the target with health and courage)
as a tank, i guess songs could be used to taunt, to disrupt the target with noise (interrupts), and to build a sound wall to absorb damage...
as a dps, there could be some aoe deafening, some ultrasound attacks, some bass ground shaking... maybe even a summon of birds flocks, or a mythical choir who's voices would do damage, and so on.
from a lore standpoint, i'm sure they could fit that somewhere - after all, every race always had some sort of entertainment - and they could also leverage a gipsy-like story, saying that the bards were so nomadic that until some new and exciting events no one ever noticed them.
I guess the only thing that may come in the way of it, is that they already used this idea as an april fool's joke - not sure they'd want to bring it back for that reason.
May 21st 2011 5:44PM Q for Queue... do you foresee any changes happening to Jewelcrafting over the next patches? It feels that the cost of recipes combined to the daily cap of tokens makes it that by the time you reach JC 525, the recipes you can buy are practically worthless as you are probably wearing better gear either from ZA/ZG or reputation.
May 9th 2011 8:20PM q for q... was wondering if you were seeing this behaviour emerge as well... people use dungeon finder for new Troll instances, they get in ZG, ask if there is a high level archeologist in group, and if the answer is no then they leave group. What's up with that? how can people only count on others to be archeologists... shouldnt they level it rather than drop group?
Feb 9th 2011 7:44PM nevermind, it's because of the gems
Feb 9th 2011 7:41PM if i follow all the optimization its telling me to do, i'm going to end up way higher than hit-capped...
Jan 21st 2011 9:00AM Question for The Queue
can you please provide a list of known gearcheck sites that are updated with Cataclysm?
as an example:
- wow-heroes is updated
- be.himba is not updated, ETA unknown
- maxdps is updated
i'm pretty sure there is a bunch of other out there that I am not aware of
thanks in advance!
Jan 15th 2011 7:32AM woups, nevermind, i misread - the 3% applies to healing only - the amount by which the SP is increased in the redesign is not divulgated.
Jan 15th 2011 7:30AM I read a few comments where people are saying that the change to Fel Armor is a buff. Can you please help me understand your math?
my current basic spellpower is 5556.
Today = Fel Armor = +638 SP, leading to 6194 SP
After change = Fel Armor = +3% of 5556, or 167, leading to total of 5722 SP.
Sounds like a pretty big nerf to me...
