Oct 4th 2011 6:35PM From the official patch notes:
Zul’Gurub - Players now only have to kill two of the four initial dungeon bosses (High Priest Venoxis, Broodlord Mandokir, High Priestess Kilnara, and Zanzil) to face Jin’do the Godbreaker.
Zul’Aman - Players now only have to kill two of the four Troll avatars before they may face Hex Lord Malacrass.
I like it!
Jun 29th 2011 6:41PM Lots of raid damage, lots of different mechanics, and lots of opportunities for people to get themselves killed. But unlike T11, one person going down doesn't wipe the group.
I agree that the BoE rate is high. In one run (3000 rep worth of trash) we had two epics and four patterns drop. The availability of the 378 crossbow does devalue the Eng built gun, for sure.
I had a blast on my run but it's going to get old fast.
May 25th 2011 2:20PM Personally, I have found it more fun to flail around on a flying mount. Since you only have to pass through them, it's actually kind of fun to dive-bomb them with a small flyer. ( leave the proto-drake in the bag...) Adds a nice combat flight sim quest to the grind.
May 19th 2011 8:53PM I should probably say that I know you can get the giblets in ZA, just to save you wise people the trouble of correcting me.
May 19th 2011 8:22PM Question:
There are a lot of achievements for the Molten Front, and some of them are of the "While on X quest, do Y thing."
I'm used to seeing these kinds of achievements for dailies, but since I haven't progressed very far in the PTR, I don't know if all of these are associated with dailies. With so much phasing going on, I worry about missing something. (Oily Giblets anyone?)
Any indication if any of the Firelands achievements are missable?
May 6th 2011 6:29PM Ok, good point. Lewis would make a great Lich King Arthas but probably has left his young prince days behind.
Arthas is an interesting role because he goes from very active to completely passive (once he is possessed.) His arc makes a much less satisfying movie than Thrall's, but I can't help thinking that a major studio film looking at the whole of wow lore will be drawn to Arthas's story. You know, white guy, good hair, easily understood love interest, dadkiller.
If only the guy from Spartacus was healthy...
May 6th 2011 3:58PM Great list, love Norton in the twin role. But Sawyer? Seriously, he does not belong in any list of actors. He's a pin-up doll.
Daniel Day Lewis for Arthas.
Oct 5th 2010 2:12PM Queue Question:
The Brewfest Boss drops via the LFD tool have me worried for Hallows End. Since the Sinister Squashling and the Hallowed Helm are still required for the Meta, any word on whether they will be handled differently than, say, the Brewfest Ram I didn't get this year? A 7% drop from a boss you can only kill 14 times is a Meta-killer.
Aug 30th 2010 5:55PM I'm the person who wrote the original letter (Whig on Bladefist) and I wanted to thank Scott and you all for the interesting discussion.
It's given me a lot to think about. These threads have been helpful to clarify in what ways I can be useful to different types of guilds.
I'm a solo player for sure, but not anti-social. I'm just as happy joining a BT PuG because someone wants a shot at a Warglaive as I was solo-grinding MT for my pet phoenix. I would never consider taking something out of a guild bank without permission. I drop fish in VoA, I enchant my gear, and I behave myself in chat. I don't consider myself a freeloader.
Someone called me out in the first thread for wanting raid-quality perks when I'm essentially a casual player. Fair enough. One of the reasons I wrote the letter was that I want to avoid getting myself into a situation where I annoy people like that poster. I respect the hardcore raiders, and I do understand that I don't get to have everything they have.
But I have a hardcore streak too. I grind for rep, mounts, and pets. I've soled every pre-wrath dungeon. I keep my spec in shape and know how to play it. I love the game and will continue to play it hard when I can. I don't think I deserve anything I don't earn, but I do feel like I deserve the chance to earn anything in the game.
If I want PvP weapons, I need to learn how to PvP. If I want a Hyacinth Macaw, I need to kill pirates for a year. And if I want guild perks and vendor items, I'm going to have to learn how to be a good guild member in an appropriate guild. That's fair, I can handle that.
Again, thanks for the discussion. I think I'm going to try and find a place in a primarily social guild that has some PvE achievement and 10-man aspirations, with the hope of becoming a useful fill-in and grinder. If anyone on Bladefist has any suggestions, feel free to send me a note in game.
