Jan 31st 2012 12:17PM Not completely related to WoW; probably been asked before, too. But thought I'd ask anyway in light of upcoming MoP, D3, and ME3, which, I imagine, would have higher graphics requirements. And y'all are knowledgeable, friendly folks, so I figure your brains are good to pick!
What's a good, moderately priced video/graphics card for straight-up gaming? My current computer is over two years old, going on three in September; it's a Dell rocking about 8GB of RAM (if that info is necessary). Don't need ultra-fancy stuff, not looking to run WoW on max settings or anything like that, for example. But would like a better graphics/video card for higher-end games.
Also noticed that my FPS drops way down (~10-15fps) on LFR doing Zon'ozz, which kind of brought up the initial red flag. Any help would be greatly appreciated! :D

My guildmates and I used to curse the name of the trash before the Blood Princes in ICC. Mostly for the fact that the Tacticians (I still remember the name of the specific mob, too) would stun the tank(s) and then go nom on the DPS and/or healers. Or the Commanders who would bubble the other mobs yet the other mobs could continue wailing on whatever player they had in their grasp. It didn't help that our priest couldn't be bothered with a mass dispel, too. /shakes fist
The only saving grace was the ability to spell reflect Lich Slap whenever the tanks had a chance. Man, that was satisfying.
Jan 27th 2012 9:48AM Yeah, I hear ya on getting odd looks when telling the "This is how we met" story to non-WoW people. Incidentally, "beam dancing on Netherspite" makes for a great innuendo (which, now that I think of it, is even funnier because Innuendo is the name of our guild), regardless of whether or not the listener plays WoW.
Jan 27th 2012 9:19AM My husband and I met through WoW :) Pretty sure that's the ulitmate overlap.
Majority of my RL friends don't play; my guildmates/raid team, however, are so close that we feel like we know each other without having actually (officially) met. Just kinda happened. It's sometimes difficult talking about those "Oh, something funny happened the other day" moments to non-WoW players when it's during a boss fight and the person in question is someone you've never met face-to-face before... But you're talking about this person like you've known them for ages.
I also have a similar (recent) sad WoW-RL story, too. A guildmate who became a dear friend to me and much of the guild passed away due to diabetic complications before the new year. Never got the chance to meet the man in-person, but it kind of sucked the fun out of the world, especially in-game. We found out after a couple of us noticed he hadn't logged in for a while-- I checked his Facebook and, sure enough, there was the news of his passing from relatives and friends.
This is the tribute/eulogy/reminiscent rambling I wrote about and for him: http://mommyjenkins.wordpress.com/2012/01/17/a-man-named-jim/
Still trying to figure out how best to do an in-game memorial. /sigh
Jan 24th 2012 12:28PM For a second, I thought it was just going to be thirty seconds of the GOGOGO Guy.
Jan 20th 2012 9:40AM Agreed! If there was anything to embody what I feel about my current situation as a Hordie (from an RP standpoint), that nailed it!
Jan 19th 2012 2:11PM I really hope I'm that awesome and spunky when I get to be level 70 irl.
This made me smile. Thanks for that :)
Jan 19th 2012 9:48AM I'm a huge fan of "Science is Fun" and "You Will be Perfect" from the Portal 2 OST, though the latter would probably be a better victory song. Hmmm... What else? "Pompeii" by E.S. Posthumus is another really good one.
I honestly think there's nothing that gets my blood pumped more than video game and/or cinematic instrumental music. My latest haunt has been the music from Mass Effect 1&2. Can't quite pinpoint a particular track (off the top of my head, anyway) but some of that stuff really gets you psyched to take on the world.
Jan 19th 2012 9:33AM That was my guild's theme song for Blood Princes in ICC! XD
Jan 19th 2012 9:32AM I find that almost any Disturbed song is good for such occasions. "Ten Thousand Fists" got knocked off of the top spot (of my personal list) when I heard "Indestructible." Man, if there was ever a song to get psyched about tanking or PvPing, "Indestructible" is where it's at!
Soothing yet upbeat, huh? Hmmm... Off the top of my head, the Tomb Raider OST version of Delerium's "Terra Firma" comes to mind.
