Feb 21st 2012 8:03AM I believe the reason they are ok with stacking spirit so you can spam your biggest spell is because you have to give up other secondary stats in order to do that. So you have 9k spirit, but you only have 3k haste and 3k crit, rather than 5k spirit, 5k haste, 5k crit.
In the end, coefficients and balancing are all important.
Feb 8th 2012 4:18AM I found the IronSally articles certainly interesting, but the key thing to note is that she is not doing the 0 deaths part. She is doing the no-buffs, only white items, no talents, etc. But she's died quite a few times getting to 85. And certainly had a really hard time doing it.
Ironmin seems to be doing the best with the no-deaths rule:
But is only lvl 67. Given the difficulty bump in *green* items from 80-85 if you don't have corresponding grey/white items to give a similar increase in damage and survivability, I can see that being very difficult.
Jan 18th 2012 4:50AM The best item is the Automatic Circumcisor. I can't say I've ever found that in my local hardware store...
Aug 14th 2011 7:41AM Thanks for writing this up. As a primarily 5-man tank, I tend to look for 20 Expertise and 5% hit. That is enough to be hit/dodge capped vs same-level enemies. It makes trash pulls *much* easier, and it does decrease the chance bosses will miss those first couple of hits.
Jul 27th 2011 11:45PM I think the big thing for a bear is that they do more dps than other tanks. I don't know how big the spread is post nerf, but I definitely remember it pre 4.2. Given that they were doing what 4-healers to be able to handle the enrage timer, they would certainly take whatever tank added the most dps to the mix.
May 22nd 2011 2:21PM Actually, with 948dps, it is probably BiS for 2H melee users. Sure you lose some Strength/Agility (druids), but it is still about 250dps more than the 372 weapons.
I assume they are going to nerf the weapon dps sometime soon. Because it definitely isn't itemized as a caster weapon.
Feb 11th 2011 6:54PM I'm pretty sure you meant Finish Twilight Highlands, not Uldum.
Also note, there is some blue 333 gear that drops from the quests in TH. Especially the ring event.
Jan 26th 2011 5:30PM I'll mention that one of the things that made Corborus infinitely easier is that the adds spawn and you can attack them before they start spreading. As the tank, I go stand right next to the crystal barrage. Once the nameplates pop up, I move in, Thrash, and run the hell out. I'll often do a significant amount of damage on them, and I can just kite the boss away until the dps finishes them off.
Anyway, melee dps *can* quite easily contribute one good aoe before they have to all run away. We even finished Corborus without wiping after both Hunter's died to the dust of laggy death. Just me, a frost dk, and the healer.
Dec 11th 2010 4:31PM As of Friday, I think they hotfixed the dust-vs-essence drop rate. I was having a terrible time, then on Friday I suddenly got about 60 dusts doing my regular "buy cheap greens and DE them". Fortunately the prices for Dust hasn't yet fallen on the AH, so I've put 60 of them up for about 30+g each. Pretty good income. I usually by all green items that are less that 30g. I used to do it at about 7-10g in Wrath, and that was mostly for the essences. It was enough to break even on Dust and make money on Essence.
Dec 6th 2010 1:04PM Probably having a 3-year-old made this more poignant, but damn it made me cry. The video was very well done, showing the progression in a very nice effect. Growing up through Tanaris/Dark Portal/Honor Hold, on to Northrend, etc. It was a little unclear if some of the Tier characters were supposed to be her son, or if it was only the guard at various stages.
Still, great concept, growing up, growing strong, but far away from your family.
