Patch 4.2: Firelands bosses voice emotes {WoW}

May 10th 2011 7:32PM Lord Rhyolith sounds almost exactly like how I pictured Lenny from Of Mice and Men sounded. Especially the "So soft" bit.

Breakfast Topic: Design yourself as a raid boss {WoW}

Apr 5th 2011 10:38AM Phase 1 - Main tank brings me to the center of the room and melee dps burn me down to 80%, off tank and ranged handle waves of imps (which are weak enough that they don't need to be tanked but should be AoE'd to prevent them from overrunning the raid), felhounds (which silence healers), voidwalkers (which leave void zones where they die), and succubi (which MC melee). Imps spawn continually, only one of the other minions will spawn every few seconds. I periodically cast shadow bolt at random targets, plus drain life which must be interrupted so I don't heal too much.

Phase 2 - I use demonic circle to teleport to a balcony above the room, taunting the raid below. Imps continue to spawn. A doomguard and an infernal spawn. The doomguard is stationary, immune to melee, and continually casts shadowbolt volley on the raid, which must be healed through. It does not need to be tanked. The infernal has an immolation aura that deals stacking fire damage to players withing 10 yards every 6 seconds. Tanks will need to switch every 10 stacks and move out of the aura, as will melee. The infernal is immune to spells. Once both are dead phase 3 begins.

Phase 3 - I return to the floor and phase 1 resumes, but without the adds. I gain a stacking buff called Incinerating Hatred that increases whenever a Fel Spark reaches me. Fel sparks spawn around the edges of the room and move quickly towards me. They must be slowed and dpsed down. When killed, they leave a pool of fel fire. Standing in it is bad. If I receive 3 stacks of Incinerating Hatred I release a blast of concentrated fel flame that deals heavy AoE damage but is potentially survivable. Phase 4 begins at 50%.

Phase 4 - I place a debuff called Afflicted Blood on all raid members, which increases damage taken and dealt by 5% per stack and stacks every 5 seconds. Stacks indefinitely. Portals open around the room and more waves of imps emerge. Players can enter the portals to be removed from combat for a few seconds, wiping their stacks of Afflicted Blood. Fel sparks continue to spawn.

Phase 5 - At 25% I consume all stacks of Afflicted Blood still on players (as well as the corpses of the doomguard and infernal) and metamorphose. I gain both the infernal's immolation aura and the doomguard's shadowbolt volley. Dps try to burn me down before the enrage timer.
