Breakfast Topic: What's your favorite pet? {WoW}

Apr 4th 2012 3:05PM For my Death Knight, I use Frosty the Frostwyrm Whelp. It used to be because I was missed having a Frostbrood Vanquisher to ride from back in the starting zone, but by the time I completed both levels of ICC achievements, it had become a force of habit.
Besides, having a Frostwyrm Whelp alongside 8 ghouls, a gargoyle and a plague eruptor? That's a real 'army of the dead' there!

Lichborne: Mists of Pandaria beta first impressions for death knights {WoW}

Apr 3rd 2012 10:08PM I wasn't aware Unholy Blight cost Runic Power.

That said, I never understood why Gargoyle was never changed to Shadow damage, especially after we lost the original Corpse Explosion (which was Nature damage) or after Unholy's mastery enhanced Shadow damage.

But it's still early Beta, as you've said, there's certainly time for change. I'm convinced they're just slow on the Death Knight glyphs because they're trying to balance those out with the new runeforges that were promised. Could just be wishful thinking, of course.

Mists of Pandaria Beta: New glyphs {WoW}

Mar 22nd 2012 2:52AM Pretty sure that "Glyph of Death Grip" is actually just the old files from the original Death Grip. I'd be skeptical as to whether it's intended or not.

Mar 21st 2012 8:33PM 1. Enslave Demon doesn't work on other warlocks, so I assume Control Undead doesn't work on Lichborned DKs in PVP. Furthermore it just demotes the target to a pet, with only one spell unique to the pet- only a priest's Mind Control gives you direct control over their actions.
2. The disease mechanics are nice, but what's the point of having more than 1 disease if half our disease-application abilities apply both simultaneously, and we're stuck with two to begin with? They've kind of screwed up the disease->strike mechanic with the removal of Ebon Plague. Perhaps we'll see a runeforge that will remedy this?
3. Still waiting on a REAL CC. Sure, we have Asphyxiate, Remorseless Winter, Gnaw, Control Undead... but those aren't reliable CCs in PVE, as most are short stuns except the one that despawns your ghoul and harms the Unholy DK's damage output.

Lichborne: Further reflections on death knights in Pandaria {WoW}

Mar 21st 2012 7:21PM 1. Vile Spew is listed as having a 40 yard radius. That's a bit big for a spammable AoE, so the reasoning that the ghoul is sacrificed in the explosion is sound. Effectively, this ability is still Corpse Explosion, just one that can't be used on corpses.
2. Do diseases tick immediately upon application? Because it would be odd if someone was standing in Unholy Blight for the full 10 seconds, constantly getting their diseases re-applied at a rate that made sure they didn't take any disease damage until after the effect wore off. Alternatively, instantly causing disease damage every second for the duration would seal the deal on it 'not doing damage of its own'.

Mar 21st 2012 6:42PM I duel a rogue. Rogue stealths and runs during the countdown. Countdown finishes. I pop DND (which I remind you, is baseline rather than talented, as well as having a shorter cooldown, a longer duration and a larger radius).
Does this mean that the rogue is now out of stealth, JUST BECAUSE I have an AoE spell?
No, because the rogue is smart enough to avoid it for its duration. And even if I do get lucky, he can just cloak or trinket off my attacks, vanish and make a run for it.
Having a counter-spell does not necessarily a hard counter-class make. That's why melee classes can get away with having interrupts.

Besides, one of the things the devs specifically said about the level 90 tier of abilities for all classes: they would all be a little OP.

Breakfast Topic: What would be your biggest Mists of Pandaria surprise? {WoW}

Mar 18th 2012 2:24PM I'd be surprised if they removed Desecrated Ground from the Death Knight talents and added something that was appealing for reasons OTHER than straight-up damage. (8 yards of mobility for 10 sec does not a 'free' DK make.)

Breakfast Topic: What's your one wish for Mists of Pandaria? {WoW}

Mar 16th 2012 11:56PM For my DK:
Improvements on Acherus the Ebon Hold, ie portals OUT.
More compelling and engaging Runeforges.
A gap-closer that *consistently* closes gaps, keeping in mind I play an Unholy PVE DPS.
A CC that I'll be able to use to lock targets in dungeons without overwriting my pet.
A better designed choice than Desecrated Ground in the Level 90 tier.

For WoW as a whole:
I've had this idea about being able to ask class trainers to send you to a phased/instanced area where they'll instruct you on how to use your spec (like, messages pop up on the screen saying "use this ability to do this")? For those players who were confused leveling up, or leveled up in another spec, or asked their friends to level for them, or forgot over an extended absence/rage quit from the game, or came back to the game to find out the system changed completely...
Course this would only work for learning in PVE, but still.

Lichborne: How to kill a death knight in PVP {WoW}

Jul 6th 2011 3:26AM It's safe for me to say that I've not recently faced a Frost DK who would use Icy Touch in PvP. Usually they'll hit me with Chains of Ice to keep me locked down and spam Howling Blast at me while hopping backwards like little bunnies. All I had to do was be patient and wait till they ran out of Frost/Death runes, when the slows start wearing off and their advantage of range drops.
And surprisingly enough, in two years of PvPing on my DK I've only once actually been hit with a Shackle while using Lichborne. Although it should be noted that a good opening for priests if you get a DK down far enough, is to shackle them when they self-heal with Lichborne since it'll definitely be up longer than when popped to break fear. Or just silence them, if you want to be annoying.
I think it should also be noted that Blood DKs are a tad harder to hold down with stuns due to their free IBF (meaning even if the first thing you do is stun them you're still not safe), and that all three specs are capable of avoiding debuffs with AMS, not just Unholy (though Unholy also avoids all spell damage and ends up with a load of fuel for Death Coils).
