Aug 29th 2011 12:08PM I think it depends on what im doing, If im farm raiding, then perhaps some kind of.. Synth Metal maybe? If thats the right term. Nightwish, Epica, After Forever, Within Temptation, Apocolyptica etc Something that gives a grandiose feeling to the content.
Progression Raiding has nothing going on, concentrating then :P
PvP? Anything Metal, any of the Big 4 or some Slipknot, a bit of Ozzy or Maiden, Taking Dawn, Murderdolls, HELLYEAH, BFMV (Scream Aim Fire is perfect for Hunters btw) - anything like that to get the adrenaline going - adds to the thrill of the hunt imo.
Something innocuous like Fishing, Farming, Archy, crafting then I like to take it down a notch, put on something I can sing too - Hinder is working well for me atm, Theory of a Deadman, Flyleaf, Slash, Daughtry, Stickelback - to take my mind off the task at hand.
Leveling I would listen to some classic 70's 80's Rock - Lynyrd Skynyrd, Eric Clapton, Creedence, Bon Jovi, Europe etc with twist of Hair Metal thrown in, G'N'R, Motley CRUE, Van Halen, SKID ROW something that ebbs & flows to constantly change the pace.
Thats my style & as already mentioned - SPOTIFY is win.
Aug 18th 2011 6:56AM In 10 man it requires 2 Healers to keep up for 19 stacks before Dispersion to take the rest.
Usually we only do it on the 1st 1 or 2 (if 2 SP's in grp) shards to allow healers to get high amounts of vital sparks early on in the encounter.
We usually do 12 stacks then pop a CD so we only ever have 2 people to take a debuff from any given shard - we have 2 SP's regular in our group and they usually pair with an Enhancement Shaman, Warrior or Feral Druid which works well for 2 manning shards.
Our 5th DPS just nukes to make up the DPS lost by the SP's during Dispersion.
Note though we are doing Firelands having started it in t11 Normal without full tier and zero HC gear. We just got 6/7 last week.
Aug 14th 2011 6:08AM Could also be ForteXorcist. Amazing AddOn tbh.
Aug 4th 2011 1:34PM Recent Baleroc kill had us at 200K with only our DK Tank & Holy Priest alive.
His Raise Ally comes off CD and resses my Shadowpriest - He pops a CD while i Disperse.
I Shield, Dots go up, Tank Dies. 100k. I pop Rocket Jump and im off and running. Dots Ticking over, Boss chasing me down, I fade & Refresh dots, Healer bites it 50k left i think im fu..in trouble. Im MFing like theres no 2 moro, 1 hit and im a gonner. He swings. Dots tick.
Im alive. Our Holy priest in spirit form is still healing. I hit SW:P as Dispersion comes off CD, Pop it & Nitros Boost. Just a few more seconds. SW:P Ticks off. The boss is alive. I got nothing. Its over. Baleroc Swings. We both die.
Cheering all round.
Apparently as I boosted away the final SWP tick procced a Shadowy apparition which finished him off as he put me down. Love those little guys!
Jul 23rd 2011 6:12PM Prior to Cataclysm When playing my Troll Shadowpriest i always used my Pheonix Hatchling from Mgt.
After Cataclysm playing on my Goblin Shadowpriest I would use my Pheonix Hatchling whenever asked to heal & my Dark Pheonix Hatchling while DPSing.
Corehound Pup is popular with my Hunter esp when PvPing as BM with my Pet version.
My Mage has a special thing going with Durotar Scorpion, Esp Riding around on a Kor'kron Annihilator. Its like my mount has baby. That likes to poison from time to time.
Jul 22nd 2011 2:23PM These are my assumptions & relative deductions from having created my charaters Yesterday:
Peter = Tank Class (=Plate)
Chris = Melee Class (=Leather/Mail)
Stewie = Ranged DPS (=Cloth)
Lois = Healer (=Cloth/Leather/Mail)
Not sure what intended for Brian.
Meg is not yet available and given all the grief she gets i'll be suprised if she ever does become so.
However should she become so i think Brian would be another Melee type & Meg would be another Healer type.
Jul 22nd 2011 6:17AM I like to use Mr.Robot, it wont find every single upgrade but offer you BiS Gear listings for Pre-za/zg, Pre-Raid, t11& t12 while comparing your current gear.
It will optimize reforging/enchanting/gemming for you too based on whatever gear your wearing. Which is actually my favourite part.
Jul 21st 2011 9:26PM @ Tyler:
I never mentioned NOT killing Rageface 1st, nor did i mention anything about bringing both dogs low, Shannox low then killing off the dogs then Shannox.
Rageface > Shannox to 30% > Riplimb > Shannox is how we do it.
I merely said if your Multi-dotting you should take note of priorities - If Rageface is alive and Facerages while your trying to multi-dot Shannox or Riplimb your prio should be to Nuke Rageface out of it not continue applying dots hoping someone else will.
Agreed that trapping Riplimb is more effective than slowing him and may well be a part of the HC strat for Shannox but having never failed to kill Shannox on Normal (which is what i was talking about, in the OP) outside our 1st night in there learning him, as The Lesser Evil comments you dont need all those traps to do it.
Our Tank tanks Riplimb about 50 yards from Shannox then HCleaping away when the spear lands pulling Riplimb with him, I then slow Riplimb with MF while he collects and returns the spear. It may not be pro bro, but it works. Even if your trap layout is shabby.
Unfortunately for us we dont have you as a tank in our guild and ours cannot always handle his stacks - As our tank asked for the Slowing & the LoF-ing its hardly impromptu and a little communication goes along way.
Esp if your guild is undergeared & not filled with money-making pro's.
Again pointing to The Lesser Evil's comments although he may not agree with my tips either you DONT need all those traps. The sheer volume of both types of traps over the course of the encounter means you'll always have plenty to spare.
I posted them because they helped me and my guild and as already stated outside the night we spent learning neither our progress team nor 2nd team has failed to kill Shannox. Just because you disagree however doesnt mean they dont work for us lesser mortals not vying for server 1st Progress. They may not be optimal but we hardly ever have optimal conditions.
Jul 20th 2011 8:49PM Damn some of you beat to the Mindflay tip but..oh well :(
Forgot to add LoF also - we do it in last phase also by getting ahead of the tank kiting Shannox and LoFing just as he slams his spear into the ground.
Jul 20th 2011 8:46PM My Tips as a Shadowpriest for Firelands, In Firelands and past Shannox.
1st tip - is actually for all Goblins not Just Shadowy ones! - If you've just crit Rageface during Face Rage, he will focus you for a few seconds of minor dmg. Run away (while Dotting) then Jump & then hit your 'Rocket Jump' to clear a trap without setting it off - Rageface will follow you and trigger a trap sealing himslef in and allow your healers to play catch up. If he has the 'Wary' Debuff he wont trigger a trap so just be careful.
2nd tip - Even if your not the target of 'Facerage' but are being attacked anyway - If your Dispersed, you have 6 seconds to locate a Crystal trap while not taking any dmg, look to skirt a crystal trap while to lure him into one thus trapping him to much cheering and applauding from your fellow raiders. Unless you get it wrong.
3rd tip - When Shannonx does his 'Hurl Spear' att., Mindflay Riplimb as much as possible, not only will it slow him on his journey too & from the spear, it also allows you to stack Shadow orbs for a nice 3ORB MB should Rageface 'Facerage' at the same time.
Not only will your tanks appreciate it but so will whoever you saved from Facerage.
Riplimb can only be slowed to 70% so your a better option than a Mage/Lock/Hunter/Shaman who are more likely to score a 30k hit/crit than you outside a 3ORB Special and your slow is consistant too whereas the other classes tend to be slows in blocks.
4th tip - Traps get everywhere but are easily avoidable - My tip is to always try to stand with a crystal trap between yourself & Rageface, stand close enough to smell it but not trigger it. Should you get Faceraged he will land in the trap and trigger it after he stuns you. Neat trick if Dispersions on CD. Glyph Dispersion also.
Multi-dotting can be fun but dont neglect your Priorities - Rageface under Facerage, Slow Riplimb when he's playing fetch, stay alive. Glyph Fade also. 15 sec fades is handy if your dotting & flaying Riplimb alot esp early as you can generate alot of aggro quickly that your tank cant taunt away.
