David O. Russell responds to Uncharted movie fan concerns {Joystiq}

Feb 22nd 2011 3:36PM @Duc748s You speak the truth. And I don't know much about David Russell, but you'd think that he would realize that EVERY TIME HE F***ING TALKS about the movie, the Internet turns into a river of flame. Hey Russell, maybe you should listen to the only people you know are interested in the movie.

It's not like we're some crazy fringe group. We are the people that played and bought the game! A logical assumption would be that we are the people who will care if someone makes a movie about it.

See the first two minutes of Dragon Age 2 {Joystiq}

Feb 9th 2011 7:34PM @Guhungus I loved Dragon Age, but I gotta tell ya, Dragon Age made Dragon Age look last gen. The first time it laded up, I kept wondering when the texture was going to load. Then it hit me...

Breakfast Topic: Do you actually enjoy PUGs? {WoW}

Jan 30th 2011 9:53PM I'm of the opinion that PUGs are fun. I find that in WoW, as in life, players tend to, for good reason, stick with their insular groups. PUGs mix up the daily routine, help you meet new people. This probably sounds odd to an outsider, who may question the value of "meeting people" in a virtual world. But to those of us who've played WoW for a while, it's actually a pretty good way to get to know folks.

You'd be surprised, actually, how much more someone's behavior in a dungeon tells you about that person than a normal conversation ever could. Do they grub for loot? Cast blame? Take initiative? I'm not going to say that it's a better way to get to know someone than meeting in person, but it truly does reveal facets of an individual's personality that, under everyday circumstances, wouldn't be subject to scrutiny. That'd actually be a clever way to research a job applicant; if a prospective find out a person's WoW info and contact them in-game to see how the applicant behaves as a player.

Age of Empires Online gameplay, microtransactions detailed {Massively}

Jan 27th 2011 9:44PM Looking at the screenshots, I just keep thinking that the Egyptian units are gonna start singing "A Whole New World." I appreciate the need for bright and colorful games, but controlling ancient armies shouldn't feel like Harvest Moon.
It's apparent that these folks are aiming for an E rating. Historical armed conflicts without even a cursory attempt at realism? Look, I'm not asking for Bulletstorm here, but when empires clashed, they didn't hold hands. As far as I'm concerned, a proper Age of Empires 4 is vastly preferable to this, as nice at it is to share AoE with neophytes.

Dead Space 2 Hazard, Martial Law and Supernova DLC packs available now {Joystiq}

Jan 27th 2011 8:42PM I get that DLC is profitable, I get that you guys want to make money, but EA, get your act together. This game has been out for 2 days. I would think that simply as a business precaution, you'd want to wait a week or two before dropping DLC, simply to avoid alienating your customers. Turns out, some people don't like buying a shiny new game, taking it home to unwrap it, and then discovering that this is not the complete version. What are you guys, taking tips from the smashing success of the Fable 3 Dog Suit salesmen?

At MOST, you could sell these 3 sets together for $5. But $5 for something this minor? I mean for God's sake, we're talking a quick palette swap and boom, NEW ARMOR.. And also, why make 3 different packs? This isn't digital Pokemon.

So to summarize for you, EA:
- The game has been out for two days. You clearly could've included this stuff in the game
- Why 3 separate packs? Silly
- This isn't labor intensive. It's not a new mission pack, it has no narrative value, and it doesn't really impact the game in a significant way. Not even replay value. So the price point is pretty out of control.

Age of Empires Online trailer builds up the Pyramids {Big Download}

Jan 27th 2011 1:48PM I can't say I entirely agree with the complaints leveled at Age Empires 3's graphics. They certainly have their share of issues, but describing them as muddy doesn't seem accurate. I felt that the rolling plains, lush forests and sea-lapped coasts truly conveyed the feeling of a land still unspoiled by European incursions. And while the models weren't the best, they certainly grounded the game's feel in a very historical sense.

In my opinion, the new look gives the game a children's museum exhibit feel. I like the actual business model and approach behind the game itself, but this art style seems a bit at odds with the historical feel Age of Emps has always had.
