Jun 1st 2011 1:49AM Enough.
I committed to a DK as a main when they launched. Frost/Unholy/Blood thru it all I adapted, adjusted, spent truck loads of gold regemming and now forging. Dealt with the DK_Tard jokes, worked hard to learn my class and support 5-mans and raids.
I liked BGs as a change of pace. I Was good but not a die hard PvPer. I tried arenas but since I stayed with guild friends in the Allied space, PvP was a lot of death on my realm but I took it in stride and did my best. Again I was not OP but I did not suck.
I have been playing WoW since pre BC. I finally really liked a class. I waited thru all the growth with the game and class only to left with this:
Anyone who has played this game more than 6 months can tell you that you cannot balance PvP and PvE. Stop trying! It's an Epic Fail. You must separate and balance within scope for those play styles Blizz.
I've been doing IT for two decades. You should read Einstein's definition of insanity.
This is only $15 a month less in the coffers. Its the only voice I have that has weight. (Tho trivial considering the volume)
MMO maybe the wave but waves can be ridden and surfed and when its over you are still standing near the beach and the wave is only a gentle lapping at your ankles. If you look there are usually people on the beach. Time to say hello and find a new past time.
As in all worlds a death or loss means little unless you know someone. Until we all know someone.
Farewell - I paid- I saw - I got tired. -bye
May 25th 2011 5:14PM As a Blood/Frost DK my advise to bursty DPS types who can or believe its their right to open a fight with a max effort NUKE ....... count to three after the tank engages before you push your scorched_earth_macro .... its amazing; you will still be at the top of what you really care about... The all mighty Meter and (here is the best part) no ugly mob will chase you down and force you to lift your eyes from your sky rocketing climb on the damage meter!
Its brilliantly effective.
That is until you die from standing in the green stuff the healer was yelling at you to avoid before the pull.
Nov 24th 2010 12:26AM Can we get a commentator for the non Unholy DKs ...? The shattering has happened and this is what is discussed? Everyone playing WOW for 3 months has alerts ... If Unholy DKs are worried about alerts fine. As a Frost/Blood DK that's not my top concern as 4.0.3a goes live.
Nov 23rd 2010 4:01PM @Enough I agree, Ive been doing large enterprise IT work (very large) for a over 10 years and IT in general for 30. Its like Blizz tests he functionality of the updates but not the delivery. Since I have to guess that they have tested the code update internally as well as on the PTR the only reason for these update delays is the lack of testing of the delivery process. Where I work, an omission like that would lead to the update not getting approved and everything would have to go back for additional testing for the update process itself, its length of time, change file records (before and after) along with any other required metric to determine if the update was successful, in the amount of time expected. Its not rocket science, its due diligence. Its a linear process that should be automated and only requiring a human to initiate the task script(s) when directed.
1) Bring system off-line (end connections and prevent new ones)
2) Backup data
3) Test back up
4) Apply update(s)
5) Test/Confirm update results
6) Bring system on-line
Whether for 1 host or a 1000 the process doesn't change, only the scope. At a guess it looks like Blizz does too much work manually allowing the gnomes and goblins too many opportunities to use their grubby fingers. Then again, maybe they employ Taurens to do the updates, that could explain the stunned servers in the data centers.
Nov 21st 2010 4:38PM Our intrepid columnist only uses Unholy and dabbles (usually reluctantly) with Blood or Frost and has mastered neither. Thats why I read else where EJ DK Info, etc since there is seldom anything useful here for non Unholy DKs. This is not a new situation, and in fact I've seen other comments since this column started that suggestion this column be renamed to Unholy Power, or several other similar concepts. Unholy is a fine spec for pvp and excellent in AoE trash destruction, but since Cata will reduce that particular type of fight, I would expect to see Unholy become like arms warriors and evolve into a pvp spec and one seldom seen in raids. Maybe this column should migrate over to the PvP columns with Art of War(craft). Don't complain about these articles if you want more info on the 'other' DKs Daniel has said since the beginning of WOTLK that unholy was his favorite and what he uses.

Why does frost only have 2 talents and a mastery while blood and unholy have 3? Anyone explained that one?
