Mar 9th 2011 2:15PM Mhmm.... my computer crashed and I was forced to play without any addons because I did not have time to reinstall before a raid. So I went without em, did a few BG's and suddenly I was without any addon except bagnon.
I like this one though, it takes practice and is all about what you perfer. I like PvP without addons, and PvE to an extent, DBM feels somewhat maditory.
Mar 1st 2011 2:08PM A PvP guide, by all means, take this and bounce your idea's off it, WHEN you write another PvP article.
Reckful control video, he is showing why Subtlety is now the dominate PvP spec for arena's.
Mar 1st 2011 2:04PM Thank you Chase for writing this Article.
I really felt disconnected from encrypted text for a long time. My personal reason is that I do not PvE at all. But I understand that much more rogues strictly PvE than those that strictly PvP. As the rogue is the least played class, I am grateful you took this time write a PvP oriented article about the rogue class. Despite the negative feedback, I want you to know that you made my week. (lol) Since I am late posting. No really, thanks.
Everything you said I agree with. It is true, there is no right or wrong way to PvP.
Combat while equally fun and entertaining as the other two specs, does not work well in arena setting, it does work well vs some classes in duels, as well as battlegrounds.
Subtlety works great in arena's, because of the insane amount of control it has. It does not work well vs healers and anything tank spec. It also does poorly against DK's, which are probably the most played class in arena's at the moment. Actually I'd like to post a link to subtlety's control, but I am not sure if that is acceptable on joystiq, so I will posting it in a reply to this.
Assassination, hits like a rock thrown from a minor league baseball player. (If you want major league rock hitting, roll a fury warrior).
This spec works great vs healers, the damage you can build up from 5+ deadly poisons, vendetta, rolling slice and dice is amazing. You have to be very judicious with your cooldown use and not blow everything at once, timing is everything with this spec. It does well in every single setting, duels, BGs and arena's.
I have written a well thought out post aimed at helping out new rogues starting to PvP. As I may end up leaving the game, I would be flattered, honored, grateful you took my thoughts into consideration.
When I PvP, I do not think think, I feel. When I PvP, I do use planning, I use instinct. When I PvP, I do not exist, I live.
Feb 9th 2011 2:36PM I still do not understand what improved kick does for PvE.
Feb 9th 2011 2:35PM Last PvP encrypted text article written: Aug 18th 2010 at 6:00PM.
Cant say I blame you, much more rogues PvE than PvP. There really hasnt been much PvP related info scrictly about rogues since the death of rogue rogue. The PvP rogue experience up to yesterday has been a bland one to say the least. You produced another good read, thanks.
Dec 8th 2010 10:31PM "As chase comments later", so I made my comment before his comment, and is irrelevent to mine.
However, as I said later, before your comment or Chases' "later" comments, I am happy that he overlapped the info found on the web also.
Cheers Mr Rufio, who cares too much about what somelike who does not matter to him, thinks...
Dec 8th 2010 2:51PM I like you sir lol... would love to duel you sometime as well
Dec 8th 2010 2:49PM I actually liked his post about the iconic rogue weapons more.
This information can be gather though fan sites or testing. I think its just joystiq's general push towards cataclysm guides that Chase wrote it (and of course to help fellow rogues).
I am NOT saying its a bad thing as people want help with PvE gear/weapons, in fact it's a GOOD article for new rogues. But for us more older and experienced rogues, looking back at our memories of what our class once was, the nostalgia attached to that weapon was just epic.
Dec 8th 2010 2:40PM An interesting note, Chase Christian wites the rogue articles, you gave rogues an honorable mention in this article, are the same person or related?
Dec 8th 2010 2:36PM Subtlety's Cooldown is a great note, but I'd have to disagree with everything else you said.
The vendetta glyph is 6 more seconds for every 2 minutes, the rupture glyph is 4 more seconds for every 16 (+4 I think) seconds, or 30 seconds every two minutes (+more energy and mutilates because you do not have to put it up again).
The same with killing spree, extra 10% damage for 2.5 seconds every 1.25-2 minutes or SnD for another 6 seconds. The glyph of revealing strike is a close contender however, but I've seen far too much movement in just the 5 man dungeons to make full use of it, your attention should be elsewhere like seeing an add on the healer and giving tricks to tank to help your group out. SnD just gives you that much more output as you need combo points to use finishers, and you cant build combo points when you need to run away from damage.
Rupture will give you back energy (If specced into at level... I think 61-63). However, if no mob is there to attack then that energy is wasted, or wouldnt it be better for a mob to die 10 seconds sooner than to get back 10-30 energy?
Great feedback though, Im sure Chase Christian appreciates it.
