Jan 11th 2011 6:33PM The only 3 things that even came close to letting me down were the very LARGE number of quests and areas that are STILL fairly broken to some extent. I count out of zone phazed herbs/mining nodes as broken, as they only show up when you in a zone, close enough to track and even see them, but the second you edge carefully into striking range they fade out.
The fact that the 2 low leveled dungeons could fall off the random dungeon queue, and entirely without warning also. I managed to do each one ONCE before i had managed to out level them, and by the time that happened i was still working my way through my first zone. I Hadn't even started to look for the other dungeons yet.
And tying into the second, just how QUICKLY you could level. I didn't exactly race to 85, but i hit it a LOT faster than i had expected, and STILL hadn't finished one entire zone yet. Yeah, okay, i COULD have just skipped off to the new zones as soon as i was level appropriate for them like the command board told me to, but come on, I was following the stories here! Whats the point to having a VERY story/narrative based expansion if you only want to encourage people to leave half way through to go let faster XP and Better loot elsewhere?
Jan 11th 2011 6:24PM My favorite was (and still is) the class based achieves. Actively rewarding people for doing their job better than just being at the KB and mashing a rotation or 2 is much better than the current style of "Whelp, we're all still here, musta done SOMETHING right during that" kinda reward or feedback.
Personally i'd love to have to worry about rogues and shamans trying to ninja my interrupts for themselves. That sounds like a problem i'd enjoy having.
*prays for Path*
Jan 7th 2011 12:54AM You'd have to make it so that certain things like reflects off of other players didnt count (sorry arena people, J/K not really) so they couldn't just farm them like they do in TF2, but hell yeah its a great idea. ANYTHING that helps people stop being idiots is fine by me. Just yesterday in an HToT run i was the ONLY person even remotely attempting to interrupt anything, especially the first boss's attack, and i was grouped with a Rogue (kick anyone) and the tank was a Paly (herp derp shield).
I'm not claiming faultlessness entirely either, yeah i missed a couple, whether my rage had been a bit low because i just blew a full bar during a colossus smash, or i had wandered a little too far away avoiding the geyser and couldnt get there just in time (god i wish pummel had a longer range) but at least i was trying. Not one of the others ever hit their interrupts even once, even AFTER i called out the very dire need for them on the boss, because our tank didnt quite have the HP to reliably survive the attack and followup.
It's slightly sad you have to actually bait people into attempting to even remotely play at a bare minimum of competence. Even sadder that in the grand scheme of wow players i'd be considered pretty freaking casual, and even i can pull this stuff off.
Jan 7th 2011 12:44AM Seriously, 20% off of Heroic Strike? SERIOUSLY?
I can see it off cleave, because it still hit fairly nicely, and you could spec into the stacking buff, you almost HAVE to really, but WHY pick on Heroic Strike?
Jan 5th 2011 1:33PM Huh, i had no idea you could friend people through LFD. Ill have to start doing that to the puggers i like.
Jan 5th 2011 1:30PM Yeah, ill second that one. I HATE the fact that i managed to do the majority of Vash, and coupled with mining and random exploring hit 84 so quickly that i only managed to do ToT once, and i forgot to grab the quests that time. Now i have to wait for a LFD group that doesnt fail on simple mechanics like not trying to range pull the casters or actually moving out of the green goop.
Jan 3rd 2011 6:28PM O have to agree with Snuzzle. Even on the most wipe-filled pug/LFD runs, everyone pretty much has a very casual attitude towards wipes. Hell, the answer to "What does this boss do different in heroic" is more often than not "We'll find out when it kills us" and everyone has fun with that attitude.
We've had maybe 1 person ragequit on a run since cata launched, and that was a VERY bad DK tank. We all figured he was just a DPS who queued as a tank for the instant run and was a bit disappointed when he couldn't just "Wrath" his way through it.
Otherwise Cata seems to have led to one of the all time highs in the community's level of respect all around. DPS offer to CC without prompting, will pay attention to things that suddenly make a beeline to the healer and try to head them off, and generally attempt to play more intelligently than ever before, even offering alternative pull strategies when things start going rough.
Jan 2nd 2011 1:55PM I have no place for any of that....so obviously ill accidentally win it. Oh well, cant be too sad about it.
Jan 2nd 2011 9:26AM Seems a bit small for a drive, but i hear the whole SSD thing makes up for it.
Jan 1st 2011 5:23PM You know what my PC really needs? More orange fans.
