Apr 4th 2012 6:16PM I don't normally like wowcrendor, but this one took my constant tension headache down a notch. Thanks, guy!
Apr 4th 2012 12:36PM @Peebers:
Thanks for reminding me who I'm talking to. Nevermind. I withdraw everything. You kids have fun, and don't let concepts like decent human behavior get in the way of hazing the everloving shit out of each other.
Apr 4th 2012 11:32AM @Cephas:
But a sportsman's reaction would be disappointment. "It's annoying that these weapons make victory so trivial for us. Rogues and the people who play them don't need OP weapons to win, and facing enemies that can't fight back is boring!"
But that's not the attitude at all. Finally, Rogues get the godmode they "deserve." Casters unbalanced PVP with Tarecgosa, and instead of clamoring for a level playing field others clamor for their turn to be nigh-unbeatable.
It's a joke, and by that I mean I literally laughed at both the article and the community reaction. If this isn't self-evidently ridiculous to you, I'm not even sure what to say.
Apr 4th 2012 10:46AM I wept like a baby at the beginning of Up. Doesn't help that my better half is also named Elli...
Apr 4th 2012 10:40AM Ah, some good old fashioned fun at the expense of others. Other people queued for that BG hoping for a contest, not so they could serve as the ducks in your shooting gallery.
But this is exactly my point. You don't see it as a competition, just an opportunity to rack up more ganks. This is the real spirit of PVP. No sportsmanship, just the seizing of transitory advantages to obtain effortless "victories."
Apr 4th 2012 9:53AM Wow. Chase Christian, not only encouraging you to take your legendaries into battlegrounds, but reveling in it. This is literally a guide tokillong people who can't fight back due to a gear advantage, and how rad it is.
Next time someone tells me that PVP is all about the thrill of facing devious human opponents, or claims that gear is irrelevant in PVP, I'm directing them to this article.
If I've been too subtle, this is disgusting and you should hang your head in shame. There is no joy to be had in this kind of victory. This is like beating your 8 year old niece at checkers and then endzone dancing around the room yelling "Yeah! I rocked your world! You can't step to this, bitch!"
Pace yesterday's breakfast topic, this is why PVP is a niche pursuit in WoW. Frankly, you assholes can have it. You all deserve each other.
Apr 3rd 2012 2:30PM I get that there are already some dungeons centric yo other races, but there's Zul'farrak, Zul'gurub, Zul'aman, Gundrak, Drak'tharon Keep, re-released Zul'gurub and Zul'aman and now the Zandalari isle. And probably some I missed. There's so much in the world they could be fleshingout or exploring, and yet we get another troll experience that goes nowhere every expansion. Does one of the devs have a troll fetish and a mountain of blackmail material on everyone else or something?
Apr 3rd 2012 12:56PM Oh boy. Another Troll dungeon.
Can we please get a Night Elf dungeon? Or a Goblin dungeon? How about more content related to the Draenei or Blood Elves? How about an instance set in Gilneas? Or something really Orc-centric? A Tauren dungeon full of evil centaurs! A Forsaken dungeon full of Val'kyr that have rebelled against Sylvanas and threaten to do awful things to Azeroth, forcing Alliance and Horde alike to hold their noses and cooperate with the Banshee Queen, even though she's clearly playing them both! A Murloc dungeon would be a nice change of pace, even!
Enough with the troll dungeons. Like clockwork, every expansion, we get a damn Troll patch. A vast world of possibility and they keep plumbing that same, dry well.
Apr 3rd 2012 10:51AM I wouldn't say "skill doesn't matter" so much as "The objective of most PVPers is to create situations in which the impact of skill is minimized." Picking fights that are easy to win and using abilities and mechanics that don't allow your opponent to respond are huge parts of the competitive metagame.
Apr 3rd 2012 10:47AM That's the essence of PVP in WoW, though. A majority of PVPers would jump at the chance to do the same. They aren't interested in a real fight; they want to curb-stomp people with no chance to respond, and then claim it took some kind of skill or talent.
