Around Azeroth: I'm such a bore, I'm such a bore, I don't do anything anymore {WoW}

Dec 10th 2011 2:12PM Is anybody reminded of this when they see that picture? Strange bit of foreshadowing going on here...

Is it time to kill pure DPS? {WoW}

I wrote a pretty lengthy reply to you, but it won't go through for some reason. I posted on my (underused) blog instead. I hope you will take a look (no rickroll, honest)

Is it time to kill pure DPS? {WoW}

Sep 3rd 2011 3:29PM @Thomas Higgins:
Kill, stuff and mount PVE. I do not PVE on a regular basis and do not for the life of me get why that crap affects the aspect of the game I spend most time in PVP. It is really annoying. Especially when the crafted Purple quality weapons available to me at 85 are useless without Resilience, a stat I want and need for battlegrounds and arenas. I know there are Epics available from random BGs and stuff but it takes forever to get the Conquest points needed and life is too damned short to waste that amount of time.

It further annoys me knowing that Blizzard wastes time, in fact, pisses it up against the wall trying to balance the needs of the hardcore PVE players with those who like me hate the godsdamned thing like the plague. "Oh we cannot bring that quality of life improvement into the game because it will adversely affect PVEers."

Well damn that kind of thinking to hell.

Raid Rx: Auditing the healing team {WoW}

Jun 18th 2011 12:34PM That's definitely a tough one, and depends on your guild's progression and leniency.
You should take a look at your guild's current progress, how happy you are with that, and wether or not you think a slight slow-down in progress will be acceptable. Ask your regular tanks and DPS for their opinions on those aspects. If you (and/or the others) are happy with taking a slight slow-down in progress, then you should take advantage of the ready and willing upstarts who will be there for every raid. You should take your raids at a slower pace, and guide them through what would normally be farm encounters, nurture and develop their skills. With any luck, you'll end up with a pair of active, competent and enthusiastic healers, who have grown with the guild. In the meantime, you can put the "Awesome-but-unreliable-attendance" healers on notice that the spots in your raids are going to those who deserve them by merit of attendance and devotion to the cause, and if they don't step up their game, they will find themselves being surpassed quickly by healers who are willing to take the time to learn.

If you don't want to take the progression slowdown, then you may have to keep benching the "always-there-but-not-as-good" healers in favour of the "awesome-but-unreliable" ones. Of course, you open yourself to a possible situation where you've made do with these sporadic attendances, and made good progress with them, but then their attendance becomes even more sporadic, or they quit altogether. Then, you have a progressed raiding team lacking healers, with the only available healers being ones who are hugely under-geared and haven't been given the chance to learn the ropes, so to speak.

The Queue: CSI Theramore {WoW}

Jan 7th 2011 2:20PM It definitely is. 15% strength that procs ridiculously often is huge. And it scales with your gear. At Level 85 in 346 hc gear, you can expect the proc to give about 400-500 str each time, which is huge, especially given it's amazing uptime.
And it's like, free. Wheras the best weapon enchants for others cost tons. No contest.

Cataclysm Beta: Cold Weather Flying at 68 {WoW}

Sep 20th 2010 2:11PM You could say the same about lowering normal flying level requirements to 60, allowing flying whilst going through TBC content. In the end, the Wrath levelling content won't be current, and Blizzard would rather you stay interested whilst levelling faster through the stuff most people have already done, to get the the new stuff.
