Dec 6th 2010 7:11PM Yeah. I run two guilds on two different servers.
The only other people who ever log in are my two best friends.
3/5 is not enough to qualify as a guild group.
Not particularly delighted with Blizzard right now.
Dec 6th 2010 8:55AM ^ This.
A lot of us find involuntary PvP stressful. I love a battleground, but I never flag in situations where I'm not, as it were, "ready" for it. And the Zombie invasion basically meant that emotionally, I couldn't play for those several days. (You know, a lot of us geeky WoW players were bullied as kids and don't enjoy it as adults.)
If the Elemental invasion had had more random elements and was more "risky", but was still purely PvE, that would have been awesome. I can take it when I know it's game mechanics, RNGs, and bad luck beating up on me, just not when it's another person (except, as I say, at a time when I say "okay, I'll do a BG now and if I get pummeled, I'm ready for it" :).
Dec 2nd 2010 9:34AM It's kinda like the whole "you MUST use crowd control" thing.
On the one hand, hopefully people will learn2group, yes. But I'm generally a pessimist, so:
1. those first few weeks/months are going to suck a lot, and a lot of potentially good people may be turned off if they don't have good guild support;
2. people will stumble for a while until they outgear a given tier of content and they'll start to say "Oh, I can do this just like Wrath" again.
Dec 2nd 2010 7:59AM GC says: "If a lucky dodge streak causes Vengeance to fall off, and that means that you can’t generate enough threat, then either our numbers aren’t tuned correctly, or you need to L2tank."
Yeah, I'm sure random heroics are really going to believe my paladin saying "Looks like Vengeance isn't tuned correctly" before they kick her and find a different tank.
Dec 2nd 2010 7:52AM Ten cooking awards max is _obnoxious_. If I start them the day I roll an alt, granted leveling doesn't take as long as it used to, but if I'm taking it slowly, if I do log into the alt daily to do the quest and get the badge, I'm supposed to buy an 85/500 recipe and hang onto it until I'm an illustrious grand master and can actually learn it, or else I'm letting badges go to waste?
I know inventory space is easier to come by than ever before, but c'mon.
Nov 23rd 2010 8:22AM With 4.0.3a, dwarf shammy and tauren pally.
With the expansion, goblin lock and worgen druid.
Nov 23rd 2010 8:20AM You're going to wait a while.
If you name-change a character (instead of just deleting it), that name is locked on your realm for 90 days.
Oct 16th 2010 7:38AM I'm in a tiny 3-person "family-style" guild. We are die-hard football fans.
Of the folks in allied guilds we hang out with and heroic/raid with, about half think football is stupid, and about half are die-hard like us.
There's more overlap than you think, plus as someone says downthread, the idea here is to hit a slightly different audience.
Oct 8th 2010 3:36PM During a hiatus from WoW a couple years ago I dated a gal who played FF11. I tried it.
... Yeah no. I walk out of town and kill a few worms. Okay fine, WoW is grindy.
I screw up on a choice somewhere in the wonderful menu system and wind up getting eaten.
... Oh, and I just went down a level.
... How long do I have to do this until I can do basically anything fun or interesting?
I'll stick with WoW, thank you.
Oct 8th 2010 1:47PM "Your best bet for this would be to obtain as many Wintergrasp Marks of Honor as you can"
Maybe if I had enough gold to bribe my entire faction to actually show up pretty much ever.
