The Queue: I need to read more {WoW}

Mar 28th 2012 2:31PM If you want an amusing exercise to do while you read wheel of time, read the terry goodkind series at the same time. Book by book switch off. Every other book jpt down the amazing similarities in storyline on the two books you just read. They are different stories by FAR... but i swear that the two authors were exchanging emails on things they were going to do in their next book.

Breakfast Topic: What would be your biggest Mists of Pandaria surprise? {WoW}

Mar 18th 2012 11:41AM Surprise that's been hinted at but never stated outright: low population server merges. It would be a super pleasant surprise that have a lot of high level toons on backwoods servers that would cost an arm and a leg to xfer off.

Breakfast Topic: What's the most killed boss in the game? {WoW}

Mar 11th 2012 11:20AM if you include the gold farmers--the bosses in Scarlet Monastery. There were farmers that would spend days upon days in there killing everything, coming out, grouping with a random person to reset it, then repeating.

Guild services to be released within two weeks {WoW}

Oct 24th 2011 4:39AM Here's what I think: It's not for the reasons everyone thinks it is. It's to answer a plea from the players, but not the plea that it seems everyone is jumping to the conclusion of.

Up until now, Blizzard didn't have the coding in place to transfer guilds at all (it does require some back end programming. Not just a simple copy/paste job). In order for Blizz to take two low population servers and mash them together would have created un uproar as people suddenly were guildless and all the hard work they'd done to get their guild leveled and all the mats they'd stored in their guild banks would be lost. Now, in the guise of "for the players to transfer their guild," they have the coding in place to make the transfer and keep all relevant information.

Another issue with the server merges: max number of characters. Say a player has 8 toons on server A and just happens to have server B as their second server with another 5 toons (they didn't pick well for population counts we'll say). If Blizzard wanted to merge those two servers the player would have 3 characters over the max character limit. One of the Q&A panels responded to the number of characters question with something akin to: possibly doing away with the per-realm cap and just sticking with the per account cap. This solves the second major issue with server merges.

The way has been paved. The bleak horizon of the low population servers that have been clamoring for Blizzard to do SOMETHING about it (and free xfers to the realms have in general failed miserably) has just become a little brighter. I believe the first tentative steps down the road to server merges has been taken.

Know Your Lore: Tauren origins and tinfoil hats {WoW}

Jun 29th 2011 12:24PM I'd say the evidence points very strongly against the Tauren being Titan creations. When the Titans created something, there were examples of the creations spread throughout all of their big installations. There hasn't been anything that even resembles Tauren yet, which coincides with there being nothing that resembles night elf/trolls either. I'd say the Tauren pre-dated the Titans.

Totem Talk: Totems and heroics in Cataclysm {WoW}

Sep 28th 2010 11:01PM I, for one, am incredibly happy with the new changes in healing in general. I play both a resto shaman and a disc priest and am waiting with bated breath to get a chance to have a go at the new system. Too long have I had to stand by and watch people get told how awesome of a healer they are just because they spam one or two buttons incessantly with no fear of mana drain. It will be interesting, however, to see how many people "can't cut it" as both tanks and healers. Those two jobs already required at least a small step above complete mindlessness and now are going to actually (from what it appears at least) require people actually knowing what they're doing.
