Jan 20th 2011 2:11PM and here I thought my druid was the only one with yellow-dot OCD. :)
Aside from that, I'm leveling a new tauren pally on a server that I don't have a high level alt with money, so I went with the usual herbs/leather to make money. I'm doing ok, but not just selling the herbs and leather, getting rid of extra linen and wool has also been good and bring in funds. Its not heaps and gobs of gold (the way I recall my shaman pal raking in the gold selling leather before the shattering patch), but its good start-up money for low level mats. Even selling things for whatever silvers, if you've got a bunch, it turns into golds.
My main, a druid with herbalism and alchemy, did make quite a killing on the ah in the first couple weeks selling extra cataclysm zone herbs. I guess because they were new and the mats in demand by alchemists and inscriptionists. Prices have come down a little since then, but they still seem more lucrative than say the mageroyals and briarthorns I'm trying to sell on my pally. What isn't selling so well are potions, and they used to be good sellers depending on the type. I don't know what is up with the new healing pot.. I'm not even well geared and its a drop in the bucket heal for me at 85. Its possible that is why others don't really feel the need to stack up on them. I haven't made any level-capped flasks, and I haven't trained my true gold transmute yet (I know thats gonna be some good income when I do) so hopefully income from alchemy is coming.. but i'll settle for herb selling.
Jan 18th 2011 11:24AM To answer the original question (i've been commenting on others and avoiding the actual topic), I don't think I play any of my toons differently. My main is a balance druid, but once I got her to 85 I've been spending time on my alts (of various flavors). When I first started playing, just before wrath launched, I decided not to make an alt until I hit max level (which, i'll say 80 because I did not make it to 70 before wrath launched). My first alt was a blood DK that I stopped leveling at about 70. Since then I've run out of room on my main server, the last 2 slots being filled by a worgen and a goblin (that I actually had to delete an alt to make room for). So I guess its just what I feel like doing on any given day determines the character I play that day.. if I feel like healing, or dps-ing.. if I feel like being alliance or horde.. I've been playing a tauren paladin the past couple days. I started it right after the 4th day or so of notes from the ptr about the patch came out about changes to resto druids. I've got a 74 tauren druid specced resto that I play along side my enhancment shaman friend.. my plan is to get the holy pally to 74 before she is able to play again (short hiatus), that if I really hate what has happened to resto druids, the pally can take its place and still be a healer..
So I guess I'm just a.d.d when it comes to my toons. :) My alts, aside from the hunter and the dk are about level 30 or less..
Jan 18th 2011 11:00AM Agreed. I don't think my gnome's pigtails were pink though, I forget what color they were. I really do need to make another one.. I deleted my level 12 gnome rogue to make space on my main server, so that pixyl the goblin could live there. But the more gnomes I see, the more I want to make another one. :)
Jan 18th 2011 10:56AM I totally agree, I've come across some of the nicest people in randoms that I'll probably never see again (which is a shame), that have given me tips about gear and mana conservation. The simplest thing, a suggestion from a very helpful tank, to use rejouv early and healing touch in emergencies, has helped me save so much mana (pre-shattering.. i'm not having as big of a mana issue now). There are some players who never forget that at one time they too had no idea what they were doing, nor how to be good at the game.. and through whatever means they became good at it and choose to pass along their knowledge rather than yell at others who are still putting the pieces together. I am by no means "great", I try to be a "good" player, learn from my own mistakes and the tips I get from others. I try to help others if I can, pass along what nice people/better players have passed on to me.
Jan 17th 2011 3:27PM If my main ever came into more gold than she knew what to do it.. she'd find somethin to do with it. I scraped forever to get 280% flying.. so I'd go on to get 310%, better gear.. and then gear up, and flying speed up, my alts..
Jan 16th 2011 12:58PM Wow, is it gone? There was one, I remember going through it forever to find a name for my goblin.. that I had to change letters in anyway for it to take. i had a name (and several variations of it should one be taken), so I hadn't noticed the button gone. I guess we're on our own for creativity in naming future alts. :)
Jan 16th 2011 12:51PM I know what you mean. While I was leveling my main (a balance druid), who is also an alchemist I couldn't seem to get to the healing/mana pots fast enough for my liking because my endless healing flask really didn't do much for me. By the time I could make it, the new healing pot did better than the old one, but not as much as I thought it'd do. I keep some cooked fish with me for when I need them, otherwise I sell the pots rather than use them.
On the other hand, I started a tauren pally the other day, and have yet to need to sit and eat/drink or use a potion or bandaid. Granted, she just hit 16 last night. I know this awesome isn't going to last forever, and I'm not sure whats causing it: bigger health/mana pools to start with, quicker regen of both at lower levels, the fact that i'm specced holy and a hit with crusader strike and holy flash give me enough holy power to heal myself completely with whatever that first healy spell you get is that depends on holy power. I'm not using any kind of heirlooms or boa gear, so its not item stats. But, I'll enjoy it while its happening. :)
Jan 13th 2011 1:30AM I don't think I even put the point in ToL when I fixed my talents after they were wiped with the patch. I know I'll put it back as my resto druid runs out of other things to take.
Thanks for the info on nourish. I have only seen it in passing on my main, balance druid, and only used it to heal myself and it doesn't seem to help me as much as healing touch. Therefore I panicked. :) My resto druid hadn't trained nourish yet because she wasn't high enough level, so I depended on healing touch for a big heal when it was needed. When paired with swiftmend it's been a lifesaver when things get rough. Now if only tranquility didn't cost as much. :)
Jan 13th 2011 12:19AM Is there a reason Blizzard hates resto druids? Moving healing touch WAY up in level (78 is way high), in favor of learning nourish sooner? Can't see how thats helpful.. And chopping tree of life again, by 5 seconds. As if popping into ToL even has a point anymore, they've got to reduce the time it CAN be used? C'mon Bliz, what'd we do to you?
Jan 8th 2011 1:11PM **would ETA but there's no edit..
Although I like the fact there are more flights in lowbie zones and larger zones, the fact that there are no less than EIGHT flights in Eastern Plaguelands is just a little crazy. Now I can't remember if they're all neutral, or if only some of them are.. I just remember that each of the towers has its own.. and one at the border of WPL/EPL (though I think that one has been there).
