WoW Rookie: Learning how to tank {WoW}

Mar 4th 2011 12:24PM I live and die by macros and I recommend putting a couple of Before we get started warnings up to get the random going right:

/p Goodevening, I will be your tank for tonight's run.
/p Please keep all limbs inside the aggro at all times.
/p I will LoS pull at random, get in front of me at your own risk!
/p Upullit Utankit
/p Thanks and enjoy the ride :)

And I have that on a button off to the side.

I also have one that is shorter when I start to get frustrated that uses %T to call out the party member I am getting frustrated with (and have selected):

/p %T, please stop intentionally pulling extra mobs. You are hereby promoted to OT and are now on your own. Goodluck storming the castle!

And I want to repeat the macro previously posted with a variation:

/script SetRaidTarget("target",8);
/cast Taunt (or Intercept, Growl, or whatever you use when you panic and have to switch aggro)

Just an easy way to let everyone know you switched targets and put a skull over it. I am adding this when I get home as I didn't know about the /script line but it makes perfect sense!!!

Goodluck out there new tanks!

Shifting Perspectives: Feral cat druid DPS 101 {WoW}

Jan 31st 2011 8:54PM I wanted to add the breakdown from the three battlegroups I counted as of 1/31:
Bloodlust, Shadowburn, and Stormstrike

32 Shamans, 29 Locks, 23 Mages, 19 Rogues, 17 Priests, 14 Druids, 13 DKs, 11 Palis, 9 Warriors.

I did a quick hover over the shamans, druids, priests and palis- and all of them tended to be resto. I went over all the druids and they were all trees except Emhealz and Tensai (though I suspect they were in offspec).

Shifting Perspectives: Feral cat druid DPS 101 {WoW}

Jan 31st 2011 12:36PM Welcome aboard! I also am a big fan of the Fluid Druid :).
As of now with the 4.0.6 changes I am thinking if rerolling. Since I primarily Arena, I did some research on what the top 3's teams are comprised of and currently Shamans (resto) is #1 followed by priests, mages, and rogues. While there are some Druids in there I didn't see anything but trees in the top twenty in the three battlegroups I sampled.

My questions are do you see a future for feral in arena in 4.0.6? How do we adjust? And if not what class more closely resembles feral? Rogue or warrior or even shammy?

Jan 13th 2011 11:23PM "Shapeshifts: Entering or leaving a shapeshift no longer cancels root effects. It continues to cancel movement slowing effects."

This has really upset the feral community (I along with it)...

My question is does this include freeze from Frost Nova, web, etc? Or is this only from Root the druid ability?

Dec 1st 2010 9:57PM I am near honor capped (3700/4000) and have a couple of questions:

Will the honor points be reset at Cata release on Tuesday? Or do I get to keep my points?

Will there be a new honor type point that will be 85 specific (making my honor points outdated)?

Nov 9th 2010 11:51AM Two quick questions:
Is the wrathful gear being accessible intentional?
Are all ground mounts being 100% speed intentional (including the starter mounts)?

Shifting Perspectives: Patch 4.0.1 for cat druids {WoW}

Oct 12th 2010 10:33AM And always carry a towel!

Seriously though, I have disabled Recount and have changed my playstyle from dps to "backup". I dps in cat until the healer starts to panic with mana issues (which is happening a LOT now), then I throw a couple of HoTs on the tank, then it's to bear to pick up the adds. If you forget the damage meter and be the true hybrid that you are- do everything reasonably well- and play "backup" I think there is still a lot of fun to be had until our dps woes are fixed. :)

Oct 8th 2010 11:36AM I guess I need to be more specific:

Are we still going to get one talent point per level ( making the new max at 85 equal to 76 points)?

If that is the case then we could max two 31 pt trees! If that is not the case then what is the new max and what is the pt per level ratio? Thanks!!!

Oct 8th 2010 11:18AM Can someone please point me to a good explanation of the 31pt talent trees and how they work? Somehow I missed the explanation of how many points we get as we level and can only guess on how the reduction in points occur from 51 pt trees (71 points total?) down to 31pt trees. Thanks! :)
