Drama Mamas: Making a fresh start after an honest mistake {WoW}

Dec 10th 2010 5:38PM It might just be the way I read this, but there didn't actually seem to be any feedback from the guilds this person was applying to that related to loot. Obviously this is a well written letter, but from what I saw only the writer said anything about taking too much loot (the GM asked him to stop, but that was it). The "However, you're not very good at presenting yourself to strangers" comment makes me think it might be a different issue.

There are people who have applied to my guild who do a great job at fights and know their class, but say things that are just slightly offensive or irritating to the rest of the guild. Invariably these people will come to me later and say "Why do I feel like everyone hates me?" It's not that they ninja loot or demand priviliges or anything like that, but the way they speak(through type) is ever-so-slightly off. Some people use "u" and "r" incessantly, and my guild simply doesn't. Some people come in and offer unsolicited advice to people who are established and accomplished raiders. Others come in and start acting superior to the rest of the server, which my guild works very hard to avoid. Some people just come in and start talking a lot...treating a new guild like their old and trying to organize raids or 5mans or BGs without waiting to get the feel of the guild.

I find the best kind of applicant is one who is polite, and who doesn't start talking until they've gotten a strong grasp of how the guild works (and it's not always easy to find out). Waiting at least a week before you start flinging comments into guild chat is always a good idea.

Dec 10th 2010 3:18PM Considering they already put a lot of work into worgen catform, and the expansion is already live, I would doubt it.

Dec 3rd 2010 5:13PM I recommend going to the tech support section of the official WoW forums. I rarely come across a problem that hasn't already had a fix posted up there.

Dec 3rd 2010 5:07PM You'll be in the exact same position you're in now. The only difference will be that other players in more active guilds will have xp boosts (you won't care after 85 anyway), access to pets and mounts that you won't have, and guild-specific rewards (extra money going to the guild bank, guild-wide repair discounts, guild-wide heirloom items). If you go into Cataclysm playing the same way you have been, you will notice no difference in your experience.

Dec 1st 2010 2:23PM I don't believe anyone is aware of a flying passenger mount for sale, however, I don't remember hearing about the Traveller's Tundra Mammoth before Wrath, either. There will probably be a Cool Thing™ to sink your gold into at some point during the expansion.

Dec 1st 2010 2:18PM The Old Barracks are *spoiler, I guess* a part of the upcoming breadcrumb quest line that takes you into Twilight Highlands (which are no doubt soon to be known as the cringe-worthy TwiHi).

I can only assume that they were either behind the Park, or constructed after Deathwing made a pass over Stormwind and then demolished in his undocumented return.

Scattered Shots: Pets for leveling from 80 to 85 {WoW}

Nov 23rd 2010 3:27PM Honestly, if I see a hunter bringing a bear to a 5-man, the first thing I think is, "This guy is either too lazy to have more than one pet on him, or he's a moron."

Of all the buffs and possible damage-dealing abilities we can bring through our pets, I'm not sure why anyone would bring a buff that's not only already in the group but also in someone's standard rotation. Especially if it's specced into damage reduction and high threat instead of damage dealing.
