Jul 24th 2011 10:15PM No, we cannot order elementals to do anything, that's the problem. Currently they don't technically count as the pet of the Shaman, but rather they are the pet of the totem that the Shaman drops. The totem ALSO does not technically count as the pet of the Shaman, but rather they are a Guardian of the Shaman. According to Blizzard, they are going to have to completely rewrite the way that Shaman elementals work before they can give a Shaman direct control over anything that her elemental does.

You do realize that Earthquake is the top-tier talent of Elemental, right? So your solution is for all Elemental Shaman to, what, only spend 38 of their 41 talent points, and spend them only on the talents below Earthquake? Because by not taking Earthquake you can't cap the tree and start spending points outside of Elemental, and even with taking the PvP talents you can only manage to spend 38 points, wasting 3 points entirely where just taking the stupid Earthquake only wastes 1 point. Not exactly a good solution.

Perhaps you meant that all players should boycott the entire Elemental spec and just play Enhancement and Restoration? Because that would also be a really bad solution. Even if you could personally convince 99% of the Elemental Shaman to play one of the other two specs (which would never happen), Blizzard is currently on their whole "play what you want to play" drive and would just make yet another blue post to the effect of how they can't understand why all the silly players for some crazy reason don't want to play specs if they have annoying mechanics or do less DPS/HPS less than other specs. They don't seem to get the idea that people ARE trying to play what they want to play, and what they want to play is a class and spec that are well-designed and satisfying to use.

Jun 27th 2011 12:35PM A spell cast by a totem is not a passive ability when that spell cast needs to keep pace with a faster direct-cast ability. If haste reduced the Lava Lash cooldown as SR suggested, you would eventually reach a level of haste where your LL cooldown would be up before you had enough stacks of Searing Flames on the target unless - again, as SR suggested - haste also increased the number of Searing Bolts your totem fired off in the same time frame.

May 26th 2011 7:11AM "Do some research will ya. All three warlock specs are less than 5% apart." I highly suggest you go to http://stateofdps.com and actually do some of that research you claim to be so fond of. The Adjusted totals for 25-man Normals are: Affliction 25,957DPS; Destruction 25,156DPS; Demonology 22,512DPS(22,512/25,957= only 86.7% of the damage). For 25-man Heroics: Affliction 31,219DPS; Destruction 27,206DPS; Demonology 26,170DPS (26,170/31,219= only 83.8% of the damage). For 10-man Normals: Affliction 22,813DPS; Destruction 22,626DPS; Demonology 20,150DPS (20,150/22,813= only 88.3% of the damage). And finally, for 10-man Heroics: Affliction 23,791DPS; Destruction 21,990DPS; Demonology 21,025DPS (21,025/23,791= only 88.4% of the damage).

Demonology never even gets as high as 89% of Affliction's DPS, and it can be as low as 83.8%. That's between 11% and 16.2% less damage than Affliction, nowhere near the "less than 5% apart" you pulled out of thin air and pretended was "research". It's folks like you that make the old joke "80% of all statistics are just made up on the spot to try and impress people" funny.

Mar 20th 2011 11:14AM I'm not so sure of that. Perusing the data on StateOfDPS.com shows that the top Enhancement players are clearly out-DPSing the top Elemental players in Bastion of Twilight, while Elemental is beating Enhance in Blackwing Lair. Throne of the Four winds is split, with the Conclave going to Ele and Al'Akir going to Enhance. It seems like Enhancement's relationship to Elemental is pretty even (as it should be), with only a measly 163 Average DPS separating the two in the Adjusted Totals.

Perhaps if this were still Icecrown Citadel where Enhancement was faring routinely 2,000DPS less than Elemental I would be less inclined to disagree with you; however, even back in those (dark) days it probably wasn't that Blizzard wanted Enhancement to intentionally do less DPS so much as that the model they had tried to build Enhancement around - a very Haste heavy model - simply didn't WORK well on any bosses that required a lot of movement (which most of the ICC bosses did).

Feb 22nd 2011 11:57PM The new Unheeded Warning does not increase the damage of Special Attacks (like Windfury, Stormstrike, and Lava Lash) for any class that attacks with their actual weapons. For Kitties, it increases all Special Attacks that scale with weapon damage (Shred, Mangle, Ravage, etc. - not FB, or rip), but for everyone except Druids the change to "weapon damage" only applies to auto-attacks.

Feb 1st 2011 6:55PM I have Essence of the Cyclone and Heroic Tia's Grace, and Unsolvable Riddle was a DPS loss when replacing either one of them. I even purchased one and synced it up to my wolves via macro, then went and wailed on the training dummy for 10 minutes - using all cooldowns as available - and retesting for each trinket combination. It was always a DPS loss of 100-200 for me. Your mileage may vary.
