Feb 21st 2011 7:09AM I guess I only have experience playing the SC2 beta so I had nothing more to base my opinion on. As long as single player mode doesn't require an Internet connection (or regular check-ins to verify I own the game) then I don't mind. I still think the legitimate resale market is the target of account based games though.
Feb 18th 2011 1:36PM I agree that copy protection steps can be reasonable and necessary. The problem I keep running into is the game publishers claim this is solely about "Un-Authorized Copying" which I believe is false.
Activation and "Must login to use" games are also very effective at shutting out the used game market. I am not talking about ebay burned and cracked copies but actual used games which are legal to resell and stop playing yourself. Like used books, CDs, DVDs and all the other material subject to copyright that has a legitimate used market.
Feb 18th 2011 1:29PM I think Blizzard's use of battle.net for single player mode capable games is over the line. The reason I do not own SC2 is I will not support having to login and request "permission" to play the game. Sadly the people most effected by this are paying customers. Once the game is hacked to bypass the "login feature" then the only ones who suffer are the people who paid.
There is no reason I should need to connect to the Internet to launch a single player game after spending money on it. What if my Internet is out? I decide I can't afford Internet anymore and cancel it? Warcraft (World of) is only useful in the multiplayer sense so I have no issue there.
Jan 25th 2011 1:29PM I have seen a MASSIVE amount of fake blizzard.com emails to my account lately. Seven or more a month. Never follow links in the messages - they are almost certainly phishing attempts. gmail has done an excellent job of catching them as fakes (sending mail server not matching the from address)
Jan 25th 2011 12:57PM Say - Please read the whole post...
The benefit of class-specific speed-increase forms (like Ghost Wolf and talented Cat Form) isn't that they're as fast as a mount, it's that they're instant-cast (talented, for Ghost Wolf) and usable indoors. You can even use them during combat. You sacrifice a little speed compared to your mount but gain a lot of utility.
NOTE it says "Talented Cat Form" not "Travel Form".
Jan 25th 2011 12:47PM While I agree completely with Zanathos blizzard may have created the reason for the retaliation by removing these perks upon /gkick. What might have been a person or two moving on is now a vendetta for a perceived loss.
Jan 25th 2011 12:41PM The replies to this have both hit the nail on the head. We did the 2 runs thing for ICC usually with the core raiders on alts to fill in if we couldn't get a full 10 for the lesser geared people.
It is waaay to soon in the expansion cycle for a smaller guild to do this since gearing is a rep/heroic grind and alts have been benched until mains are geared. With 4.0.6 JP increase things may change.
