Will it change the way i Play? NO.
I would guess 99% of the WoW population don't play at skill levels where those 5 or 10% matter. Replacing a piece of gear, proper enchanting and gemming probably does more for you than playing the top dps spec you don't have the practice to Play properly.

Coming back from a two months Break from WoW shook Things up for me.
Did the marksman Hunter do more dps than me? Yes. How much; 2k-3k. What gear was he in? 372 at the lowest but mostly 378.
I was geared in t11 gear and some pieces from the troll heroics.
The Rest of my raid was equally geared to the Hunter mentioned above.
Still i managed to come Third on the meters As an SV hunter. Probably i worked harder for my dps, but it was possible.
Dedication does make up for much more than switching a spec for theoretical gains.

Jun 30th 2011 10:52AM i'm not sure i'm correct, but heres what i thought about the second rank of serpent spread:

rank 1: 4 sec of my regular SS are applied, dealing about 30% of SS damage
rank 2: 6 sec of regular SS are applied, dealing about 40% damge

through improved SS, every application deals 15% of the dot, meaning with two ranks of serpent spread you would be able to nuke more effictively in aoe situations ;)

at topic...get rid of counterattack, make it something like X% of damage dealt are gained as health, i dunno how to balance this properly, maybe 2 or 3% ?

make hunting party (along with trueshot aura and ferocious inspiration) a bonus for choosing the talent tree, it kinda sucks to spend a talent point only to have your buff overwritten by frost dk's, arcane mages, blood dk's and so forth.

just my two cents

May 24th 2011 4:05PM this is not a *oh my, in the vanilla days, things were harder* post, i merely play for two years now.

but still; WoW is a game with a extremely widespread amount of activities, from solo questing and achievement hunting to instances and PvP, and there's raiding.
one is not forced to raid, it's by far not the only thing you can do.

so, i don't understand why there shouldn't be a certain entry level for raiding. i'm not talking of farming 3 different dungeon sets to enter mc, and so on. but there should be a certain kind of test of player skill and so forth imo, and the easiest way to do this is gearlevels.

in a perfect world, raids would get harder and harder by every tier, not only through ridiculous amounts of boss health and therefor requiered damage output, but through mechanichs. and in this perfect world for me, players would hone their skills in entry level raids, so to speak tier 11 in this expansion, and improve as they go through the tiers, until they reach the real endgame content.
maybe this would be possible, if game mechanics were different, to allow people to see old raids the way they were meant to be played, in order to get to the next level, maybe by applying debuffs to them as they enter the instance.

i enjoy to raid, i love hanging arround with my raid team, killing bosses.
what i don't like is to see blizz coming along and nerfing everything i just accomplished to the ground, so that it becomes attainable by eleven year olds who laugh at vent when someone curses.
it's a game, yes, but this doesn't mean there can be no challenge in it, and it doesn't mean that older content should be waaaay easier just to let new players enjoy endgame content faster which they, in my opinion, haven't earned the rigt to.

Apr 7th 2011 9:53PM i'm not too happy with the call to arms in DF.

most likely it will play out to favor tanks for 98% of the time, healers for another 1.99% of the time, and damage dealers for 0.01% of the time, in case this would apply to normal dungeons at all levels at half past 3 in the morning when no third damage dealer wants to show up.

forthermore, i fear this will yet more bad geared tanks to hop into the system, and the nerfs to the instances still don't make it possible to carry a tank-specced damage dealer through heroic instances as at the end of wrath(a priest friend of mie actually forced a tank in our guild to put on his non tank gear so he was kept busy healing). so there will be yet more frustration, no matter how much shorter que times will be...

can anybody relieve me from my worries?

Mar 31st 2011 10:46AM as i see it, that's when you make it complicated.

i read your article on haste plateaus over at the WHU several times, and came to the conclusion that, given i don't have the 4 set bonus, and would never reach the soft plateau through reforging, it's better for me to reforge into crit.
i would suppose this holds true for most people.

so while there actually would be this squishy soft plateau which would have me gain a bit more dps through haste, i would ignore it until i get the 0.2 sec reduced cast time which brings me much closer to the next plateau. and from that point each point of haste actually gives me a dps gain, while i've already reached the soft plateau with 4 set bonus+current haste.

the annoying thing with haste is how it shifts in the stat priority from desirable, to useless, to desirable again.

as response to your point 3) Frost, i was referring to the hard plateaus obviously, the equation would without a doubt be a bit more complicated for the soft plateau :)

Mar 31st 2011 9:55AM to be true, i don't think it's too complicated, though.

in this set amount of time Y, i can fire of X fillershots, and i will only be able to fire off X+1 shots if i get Z haste, or more clearly if my fillershot has a cast time that's smaller than Y/X, so to speak if it is Y/(X+1).

so if my math isn't completly off, this would mean for sv, in 6 seconds i can fire off 3 filler shots with a cast time of 2 seconds, and can only make it 4 shots when they have a cast time of 6/4=1.5, so i would need 25% haste to cut of this 0.5sec cast time.

correct me if i'm wrong, but to me it's quite logic and easy.

that's the difference between the casual and the nerd, or the huntard and the awesomesauce of hunters. we don't walk into a raid with a faceroll tactic, we go in there with knowledge and an understanding of our class. i think this should be rewarded.

Mar 15th 2011 8:26AM i actually had like 3 'first' characters, the first in a trial, the second in yet another trial. and then my current main from the friendship-something.

the first was a orc hunter, the other two troll hunters, and nothing will get me away from my dps-charts blowing, agile Zippö, no matter how awesome disc priests are and not even if i get the kick out of one of my tank-alts, this troll will stay my main for as long as i play the game (:
