Nov 19th 2011 11:34AM I remember posting my first weapon, the Crystalforged Sword in guild chat and people were boggling at the fact that the sword had +spellpower and +block, which for people who started playing in Wrath could not make sense of. The block has now been replaced with crit.
I started leveling a paladin in BC because those guys rocked at heroics. My first heroic as a prot paladin I will never forget.
Nov 8th 2011 10:37PM I think the best question everyone should be asking is - Who raids and started playing WoW in Cata? I think you'll find that while some people who raid started in Cata, for the most part all of the raiders started in previous expansions.
That begs another final question - Where are all the new players?
Nov 8th 2011 7:19PM "Cataclysm, it turns out, took longer to develop than any other expansion."
So that's why I spent a year in ICC. That was an awful experience.
May 30th 2011 9:30PM A guild I was in for Wrath had an A Team for Ulduar. As soon as they killed Yogg, we spread them out amongst the other teams. We had an A team for ICC. They left to form a new guild. 3 months into Cata after I left, they formed another A team which killed the B team and they left for other guilds.
If you are going to have an A Team, use them to clear the content. Once they have, disband it and spread them around the other teams to get people in there.
Mar 22nd 2011 11:17AM I've tanked at least 60 heroic runs for the guild, and zero for pugs. I've been dpsing in heroic pugs, I've seen what they do to tanks.
Mar 21st 2011 12:01PM Ugh, reply fail was trying to reply to jfofla.
Mar 21st 2011 12:00PM Thanks for your valuable input. I'm sorry you had to take your time out from 4chan.
Mar 21st 2011 11:58AM Anytime you make a comment about the problems of Cata, you typically get L2P noob, I'm having fun, why aren't you, Cata is easy, you are a Wrathbaby and other frequently rude comments.
I had a ton of fun from BC through to ICC. Wrath saw me become a Senior Officer in a guild I loved being in. Content was accessible in Wrath but was hardly a pushover. We learned all the bosses and downed them. I ran 10 and 25s per week. I ran alt runs. I pugged raids. The only major problem I had with Wrath was the length of time between ICC coming out and Cata's release, that was far too long, and Ruby Sanctum didn't count.
I played in Cata from Dec to February, however at the start of February I become increasingly frustrated. People weren't performing up to raid standard. People weren't turning up to raids they signed onto. People were pugging with more success and locking us out of boss attempts. There was nothing to do end level once you grinded all the reps, grinded all the heroic gear and spent all your justice points if you couldn't raid and I ran out of things to do that I enjoyed. I quit the game and the guild, let my sub lapse and fired up Steam for a month. I felt betrayed by Blizzard and Cataclysm, that the game I poured a lot of time into that promised to be fun was not what I wanted.
I returned after 5 weeks as I wanted to spend some time leveling a priest for fun and I missed the social aspect. I decided to try again and join a new guild, except this time I wouldn't spend so much time in game. I would log to prep for raids and get mats and only do what I want to after that, then log off. I've now gone from 2/12 to 5/12 in a week. We had attempts at Atramedes and Chimaeron tonight, 3 hours and couldn't get them down, but we will. It doesn't help when other raid members run past you with sonic breath on them, messing up the run location of course. As for difficulty, last Wednesday I was assigned to interrupt Arcanotron in a 25 man. I had to keep watch on him via a focus frame to interrupt his casts, focus on a dps rotation filled with RNG, watch my feet, kite slimes that targeted me and avoid gas clouds. That was exhausting.
I'm not sure where I will stand in a month's time with respect to Wow, I may still be here, or I'll bugger off. I think of this as the New Coke debacle where people said that the new Coke was great, but no one wanted it when it was released as they were used to the old Coke. You can't change your product this much guys.
Mar 21st 2011 11:30AM I thought of myself as a pretty good tank. I decided to tank a Heroic for my new guildies.
After the first boss and killing trash up to the 2nd boss, I noticed that my health was 150k. I wondered why, then I realised I was wearing my holy gear and had tanked a boss and 5 trash mobs with it on. I was so embarrassed.
Feb 11th 2011 10:51PM Putting my tin foil hat on, my take on the failing of Guitar Hero for Activision is that they will look to existing IPs to make more money. The CEO has already mentioned their adversion to building games on new IP because of the risk involved so with respect to Wow, will they look for new money making opportunities here?
