Nov 27th 2010 2:31AM I have been healing since vanilla WoW. Healing has changed a bit with every expac. Like people said just relax and have fun. Read blogs like these to keep up to date on healing. I do not think it will be as bad as people think it will be.
YES, the new instances are going to be hard. Remember UBRS, LBRS, BRS,BRD...they were really hard back then. Then we had Shattered Halls, Arcatraz, and Shadow Vault. Now we had Halls of Lightning, Halls of Reflection ect. They used to be very difficult. Once you got used to the dynamic of the boss fight/trash pulls things went smoothly.
The only thing that is going to be really hard for us is the mana issue. I remember healing in MC.We had unlimited potions we could use back then. I would bring a few stacks of mana pots along with health pots. DPS in our guild HAD to bring bandaides and help heal themselves. Mana was an issue. You had to play smarter. The only spell I really relied on heavily was Healing Touch. I had it on my hot bar in 3 spots, in different lvls. Rejuv was/
is always a must.
Now Resto Druids have a lot more choice in spells. Many resto druids are lazy Wild Growth healers...if you use more than 3 or more spells to heal, you should be fine healing in the new Cata 5 mans. Just pay attention like everyone else said. We cannot be lazy wild growth healers ( I have never relied on that spell in 5 mans or higher raids personally). we have to be careful. We will have a learning curve, we will be blamed. Let it wash right off your cloak. Everyone will be having issues. Us included. Learning Curve=everyone is going to be learning the new instances and blaming the tanks and heals. Just hope you have a nice beta tester to help you out a bit!!
Nov 12th 2010 5:01PM If I am reading this correctly, then it sounds/reads like we are going back to the old school way of raiding we used to do back in vanilla WoW. Molten Core, AQ and ZG had lots of CCing. Was a resto druid back then, and I am still a resto druid today. As a healer, I had to CC. Yes there was 40/20 people in raids back then. You really had to be on your game, to cc and heal. Druids were a jack of all trades then, and our healing was sub-par. Mana conservation was imperative. The only good thing was that we could use as many healing/mana pots as we wanted too. Like you said, it is going to be a learning curve to try and et rid of all the bad habits we have picked up during WotLK. The SP we had on the Cenarion Set was less than 50ish? We cannot be lazy no longer..gotta set it up! I for one am looking forward to that. I would constantly comment that I would be falling asleep bored, cuz a full strength lifebloom and a rejuv on a target was all they needed. Throw in an occasional regrowth..and that was it. Really lazy Resto Druids would spam Wild Growth. Blizz needed to bring the fun and complexity back, imo.
Nov 12th 2010 4:28PM I hope everything is fine with you and the Bride. I really hope she decides to start up again when Cataclysm comes out in a few weeks.(I recommend the goblins. Their starting zones and quests are amazing and fun to do.! You both will laugh a lot!)
It is hard being in a guild with people who do not help you in a way that is constructive. Being a jerk does not always get your point across, and it does wear on you as a player. She was trying her best, and they could have worded things bit differently. I would try to find a casual raiding guild. I have been in hardcore guilds before in vanilla WoW, and in B.C. And they might be fun for awhile, the constant yelling/criticizing/frustration that all those bring is not always worth the outcome. I love my casual raiding guild. We have beaten LK. Thou it took us till the 25% buff to do it. We raid for a few hours certain days a week. And if you cannot raid, no biggie. We still try to progress, and yes people still get grumpy, but it is not as stressful. Most people in Casual Guilds have family's, jobs, other commitments and do not play every night for hours on end. That will also leave you can your fiancée time to play your alts if you do not feel like raiding etc.
You and your gal need to find a guild you both love! WoW is a fun way to spend time together!
Nov 10th 2010 2:55AM I want to see the new looks for the old areas.I will be rolling a goblin from scratch. Do not know what class yet thou. =)
