Jan 3rd 2011 4:26PM I just mentioned this in the comments section of the "Be kind to your tanks and healers" post, but thought it might actually fit better here in the queue.
I'm a tank. I love tanking. I was the OT for our guild in ICC and was happy to do so. But I've only ever tanked in the age of Wrath--you know, I grab everything into as small a package as possible so that everyone can unleash massive rains of ouchie. But now that's out the window and I'm having to learn how to Tank in an environment of Crowd Control. Specifially, I haven't quite figured out when I'm supposed to stand back and let someone else do something and when I need to rush in.
For example, I've learned that if I want a Rogue to Sap something, once my healer-friend has marked everything with the appropriate shiny icons, I need to wait, let the Rogue go in first and do his thing. Mages I think I'm supposed to let them turn the big mean looking thing into a sheep first, but once they do, everything's going to rush them, so I better be ready to grab the aggro right away. Then I think there's other forms of CC that happen after all of that when we're in the middle of the fight.
I hate sitting in front of a group of marked baddies wondering if I'm supposed to rush in first? Am I waiting for something? I know someone's going to do something to that beastie over there at some point, but I could really use a 101 on what's supposed to happen when for all the different CC's out there!
Jan 3rd 2011 4:06PM So here's a question from someone who's played since Vanilla, but I rolled my first tank in Wrath:
What CC happens when?
Specifically, what CC happens before the fight entirely (I know Rogue's Sap falls into this category), what CC happens and then starts the fight (Polymorph falls into this and this is the category that stresses me out since I feel like I've got to grab the stray aggro IMMEDIATELY), and what CC happens during the fight (after I've gone in and smashed a mace into something's face)?
I've been nervous when coming up to groups and someone's marked everything (thanks for that by the way, I don't mind at all!), but then we're all sitting there. Am I supposed to throw my shield in? Am I waiting for someone to do something? What's going on?
Dec 23rd 2010 4:41PM I gotta say, the cinnamon stick is a nice idea. I think my wife is going to have a field day with this :)
Dec 22nd 2010 3:13PM Wait... 30 is average age? People MY age? Wait a minute... how can I continue blaming the current status of Trade chat on "those **** eleven year olds"??
My whole world feels like it's been turned upside down....
Dec 17th 2010 4:12PM While I'd love a goblin paladin, what really bothers me is why Forsaken can't be paladins. Forsaken=Undead human. Humans can be paladins, so why not a Forsaken? Frankly, I would have a much easier time believing that than believing that an undead human could form a bond with a seagull, wolf, or bear...
Dec 6th 2010 5:26PM Ooo Ooo! Pick me! Pick me!
Dec 6th 2010 5:24PM It so needs to be me... :D
Nov 30th 2010 3:26PM kgpanels works well for that. I know some have used it to get really fancy with their layouts, but I just used it to make a basic black box at the bottom of my screen where most of my elements live.
Nov 10th 2010 9:48PM If I ever roll on Stormrage, I'll be sure to /praise these guys. Warms the heart indeed. Well done.
Nov 10th 2010 9:40PM Thanks for this!
