Mar 7th 2012 1:16AM The main reason to fear MoP is that it is made by the team that made Cataclysm. They listened to all the 1337 members of the forums and blogosphere and lost millions of customers. Considering stock price, perhaps a billion dollar mistake.
Perhaps they have learned their lesson. We shall see.
May 14th 2011 2:43AM I see the analogy as I wouldn't pay money each month to ride that motorcycle with meth-dealing biker gangs.
There is a reason to preserve in the face of adversity for jobs, family, relationships, wealth. Even though I could handle it, I don't patronize a restaurant with consistently bad service.
Even though I could handle the toxic WoW players (sticks and stones ...), as the customer I don't see why I would.
May 14th 2011 2:26AM Yep. Isn't the saying "raid or die?"
May 13th 2011 8:11PM It is why I quit raiding and for the first time since TBC will not renew my subscription.
Sad, but obviously anything that reduces your WoW time is a good thing that frees up time and money.
I would think Blizzard would put more effort in making it more difficult for the poorly behaved to turn off and run off so many customers.
I think the ending "you have three alternatives" is naive or just wrong. The additional choices which are quite common are
"keep on berating people because you have little impulse control"
"keep on berating people because you enjoy hurting people when there is no risk to yourself"
May 10th 2011 4:18PM Trolling forums is popular I hear.
May 10th 2011 3:39PM I assume that it will take an enormous amount of programming effort to get an iPhone commenting system as bad as this web one.
Apr 20th 2011 9:53PM I used to do 20+ dailies most days on my main and eventually got to where on most days I did 10+ on an alt.
One of the great advantages of giving up on Cataclysm raiding is that there is no reason to do these annoying dailies. What a relief!!!
The downside is pretty soon I'll be out of things even a bored person would think "worth" doing.
Apr 17th 2011 11:50PM Cata content is not be too hard for you. It is more effort than million(s?) of customers wish to spend; perhaps not harder than they could do, but more than they will do. IIDK the exact subscriber numbers. I do know that if Blizzard were proud of the subscriber numbers, there would have already been a press release.
My most successful guild has merged twice. And my favorite guild just fell apart. I know a lot of people who left Cataclysm and very, very few who say they like it. I.e., my anecdotal evidence is that Cataclysm is not a success.
I really, really liked an above commenters analogy that Cataclysm is the Occulus of expansions. Somewhere there are Blizzard employees who are so clueless that they do not understand why either are failures. Or worse do not even realize they are failures.
Oh well, I guess there is a last time for any game.
Apr 17th 2011 9:37AM I know who won't be in charge - Ghostcrawler. You can't devalue a company's main brand by a billion dollars and keep your job, even at Activision.
Apr 11th 2011 2:33PM We had a gm not show due to RL, officer's on less due to job, and after a week the gquits started leading to an irreparable failscade. Now all the guild rep I grinded for has to be done again at another guild. If I want to continue WoW that is. Which I am not sure I do. I don't understand this new guild design.
