The Queue: Rule of Two {WoW}

Feb 20th 2012 11:18AM
1. I've been out of the game since the day before 4.3, and last week, (valentine's day to be precise), Blizz sent me an email offering a free 7 day pass (from what looks like a genuine address). I can only get this by clicking through the email and logging in to battle.net, which I don't really like doing (since that's how my account got trashed a while ago - a dodgy weblink that time rather than clicking in dumbass typo-heavy emails). As I have an authenicator attached can I presume I am pretty safe this time around?

2. I noticed the 'scroll of resurrection' feature - when I come back full time, I'll get a guildy to utilise this as we both get something free out of it. What I didn't notice was how long a person has to be dormant before this can be used... a day,week, month or longer? It's a good feature to advertise as we do have guilies dropping out for weeks primarily for uni work/exams and teh like.

3 things you don't want to miss if you quit during Cataclysm {WoW}

Dec 23rd 2011 5:30AM [will this go in the right place...?]
As someone who quit wow the day before 4.3 was released (game time expired, wife due another baby, so no, not coming back for a while but a return is planned), I wouldn't personally pay £8 just so I can re-log to make my character look different. The bum you look at might be a different colour, but the game is still the same. Ok you might get to run a few old instances again to get particluar gear, or go to the DMF to grind your way to new gear (which goes against the ethos of someone quitting in the first place, as per the article) but it doesn't feel like a good enough reason (to me) to want to come back to a game.

Drama Mamas: When "just friends" intrudes on love {WoW}

Nov 14th 2011 5:43PM I read into this that the couple are young, as do many people posting here. It reminds me of when I was at university having just split up with my girlfriend at the time and started with the latin and ballroom dancing soc. It was a way to meet new people, and to be honest, hopefully new women with which to form friendships that could lead elsewhere...
Anyhoo, there were also a few post grad members of the club - mostly men... and I came to the immediate conclusion that they were there almost specifically for the women. Sure they could dance, and did it well, but they also commanded a certain awe by the undergraduate women (let's call them girls). This also included one of our male instructors who seemed to try to be friendly with the girls also. The mixture of naivety by the girls and power by the men was quite noticeable. I was shocked to find that the instructor dude drove for 2 hours (in the UK, 2 hours is a reasonably long drive!) to turn up unannounced at one of the girl's house on a 'social' visit. This seemed very odd to me, and I could only guess that the dude was travelling that way to improve his 'friendship' to hope for something more. As it is the girl married another 'old' guy from the club (15 years) - she was someone who craved attention and that's what older single guys have in spades for the chance of a romp I guess.

So coming back to this, one of my opinions is that the gf and the Old Guy have done nothing together - she is young and possibly naive, he is old and horny and possibly grooming her (visiting, being nice, buying her stuff?), my guess that he hasn't made a move, though maybe he hints at it (being flirtatious) but she laughs it off. As time goes on, she may change. The worst thing is if the situation is handled badly from the OP pov - too forceful and she'll have some loving arms reaching out, to soft and she'll just ignore any suggestion that the guy is just trying to get in her pants.

(opinion based on not having all the facts!)

Nov 2nd 2011 11:09AM 10man raids never drop the loot you want. It seems that a lot of the time, they don't drop loot that anyone wants. I think I read somewhere that Blizz were looking at more intelligent looting ideas. Is it possible that a boss could drop 3 pieces but the raid could only choose 2? I think it would have to be a master looter arrangement prerequisite to being able to do this, but at least it means that there is a slightly better chance of getting something that someone wants!

Oct 30th 2011 1:46PM erm... if it was the cataclysm that caused the mist of pandaria to unsmog itself, then shouldn't we be able to see it now? rather than in a years time (oh yes, a year, not march!)...

The Queue: Undertow {WoW}

Oct 2nd 2011 1:59PM OK, so I should have guessed with the faster mounts at 40 seeing as you can get a mount at 20 now. TBH, I'm levelling a druid so I'm always a bit confused over mounts vs running form and all that, so that's where my lack of knowledge comes in. So this questline is indeed outdated, but still in for the mountaholics.

Way down deep in the middle of the Congo, a hippo took an apricot, a
guava and a mango. He stuck it with the others, and he danced a dainty
tango.
The rhino said, "I know, we'll call it Um Bongo", Um Bongo, Um Bongo,
They drink it in the Congo.
The python picked the passion fruit, the marmoset the mandarin. The
parrot painted packets, that the whole caboodle landed in.
So when it comes to sun and fun and goodness in the jungle, They all
prefer the sunny funny one they call Un'Goro!

Oct 2nd 2011 12:11PM I have just got to Umbongo crater on my alt at lvl 49... and upon reading about quests of my level, there is a starter quest that leads onto a set of dailies to get a Ravasaur mount - it takes 20 days to get it (dailies), and it is the only 100% mount you can get before level 60 (or so I read). In my mind, by 20 days time, I will be level 60 and have access to a fast mount anyways, so I wonder what the point would be of going for this...! (apart from ifI was a mount collector, of course)
[disclosure: alliance mount is also available through a separate questline]

Oct 1st 2011 12:35PM As far as I understand, most crafting professions get some kind of pattern drop from raids - why do others not? Like Alchemy for instance?

Breakfast Topic: What size and frequency do you prefer for expansions? {WoW}

Sep 2nd 2011 9:23AM I'd like to see content reasonably freqent, but enough of it to give a reasonable amount of variety - which then makes me lean towards the more-content less-often idea.

How many people are currently happy running the same 2 heroics over and over and over and over for their VPs... while there are like 8 (i guess) that have been left behind, of which I haven't done them all on heroic.

Perhaps raid one patch, dungeons the next.. with other stuff put in as and when?

The Queue: July 4 {WoW}

Jul 4th 2011 1:59PM Q. I'm an alchemist. Other than my daily transmute, I believe there is no real way of making money from it any more, and especially so since Bliz gave us cauldrons, and they don't give us epic recipes like the other professions. Should I re-spec, and if so what to (I'm a rogue, but I'm levelling a lLW alt, so don't really want to go down that route)? (p.s. I did read goldcapped last week!)
