Nov 8th 2011 8:49AM While I'm sure some of the events could use a bit of an improvement, the big change that they made back in WOTLK that I wish they'd do away with is those dumb daily bags from the event bosses which are now the only means of getting some of the more rare items. We used to be able to just run the bosses as many times as we had people who still had the daily. Since the change I've now gone two years straight not getting either the ice chip pet from the summer festival or the brewfest kodo, running it every day but only getting one shot at it on a given character. These things should've remained on the boss loot table, not been shifted to a once-a-day bag. Put something more useful in the bag like flasks etc like the tanks and sometimes healers get on the heroic dungeon call to arms.
Nov 2nd 2011 4:17PM Currently, for Assassination Rogues like myself, one of the big damage boosters is extra Instant Poison damage when we have envenom up. Since envenom has thus far required deadly poison to be an active damaging debuff on a target, I can't help but wonder how much of a benefit the Envenom buff will remain if we're having to choose only one damage poison. Aside to perhaps increasing the poison damage bonus to compensate for only having one damage poison, do you have any other theories as to how this could work, Chase?
btw it was great to see you on the Q&A panel at BlizzCon again this year as I streamed it from home :) I just wish they'd given you this answer when you asked it there
Oct 31st 2011 2:42PM My raid group recently completed Glory of the Firelands Raider (finally!) and as I was just taking stock of what old dungeon & raid achievements I still have yet to go back and complete I happened to notice that we get 25 points for every single Glory meta-achievement....except for Firelands. Is this simply because we only had 7 bosses?

May 25th 2011 3:59PM This is a good article for keeping us rogues motivated to do our abolute best that we can! As many have already stated, it's saddening to see us falling behind the ranged and cleaving melee classes on a lot of fights, though I think combat rogues, to me so far, seem to fare better in certain heroic encounters with Blade Flurry.
Speaking of which that leads me to a question I'd like to ask of the Rogue community here (especially Chase, if you happen to catch this!). My tricks partner in raids (combat spec) pulls a fair bit more damage than I do (assassination) on 3 of the 5 heroic raid encounters we've downed so far (Halfus, Magmaw & Maloriak). Additionally, last week's Encrypted Text pointed out the fact that our upcoming 2-piece set bonus on T12 will be a larger dps increase for combat than for assassination. Even on heroic Chimaeron I'm barely pulling ahead of him much of the time becuase, despite being hit capped and maintaining my uptime and positioning fairly well on that fight, the bugger still manages to dodge a number of my mutiliates, ruptures and envnoms. Should I therefore be considering returning to a combat spec?
May 25th 2011 3:12PM I think the problem of melee-unfriendly fights was less of a problem in Wrath and, to a degree, TBC as well. But overall, I don't recall off the top of my head any fights in any expansion that were as bad for melee dps classes as Baron Geddon and Shazzrah. I could be wrong on that, I dont remember the specifics of very many raid fights in TBC since I didnt see a good number of them either until after the pre-Wrath nerf or, in other cases, until I was 80 and going through for rep runs.
What I find melee-unfriendly in the current tier is mostly class- and specialisation-specific as an Assassination rogue, particularly on heroic encounters. The additional targets on fights like Halfus, magmaw and, especially, Maloriak favour Combat a lot more, and it's giving me pause to wonder if I should return to that spec. The 2-pc rogue T12 set bonus adds to this after reading last week's Encrpyted Text.
May 25th 2011 11:51AM one little caveat to (cutaia)'s link to wowjuju's rep calculator that i just noticed when i looked up my main's own reps: the calculation of how many quest/item turn ins until you reach the next level or exalted does not take into account the additional rep gains from guild perks. I'm guessing that it's beyond their current scripting capability
May 25th 2011 11:36AM Well I'm certainly feeling nostalgic now. Despite the less than favourable itemization (particularly for hybrid classes), I miss the old vanilla raids. My guild was late getting into it, and our first and only Ragnaros kill occurred on our final raid before TBC went live (and I missed it due to RL...). None of us ever even got a piece of either of the Legendary weapons, that I remember, though last year while grinding Hydraxxian Waterlord rep I did manage to get the Eye of Sulfuras off of Rag hehe. I may go back and try and complete that weapon even though the character I have it on cant equip it. The feat alone might be worth it.
May 24th 2011 1:55PM well that sucks about the raid nerfs... I just hope they don't decide to remove the mount from the meta achievement for that tier, given that most of those achievements are meant for normal mode.
