Mists of Pandaria Beta: Watch the Horde intro to Pandaria {WoW}

Mar 30th 2012 2:19AM @snarkygoldfish - it's kind of hilarious that both the races from Draenor SUCK@VESSELZ. Look how long it takes the Horde to get where they're going in WCIII--green brothers cannot sail. And the Draenei have the whole crash-landing thing...

Nobody from Draenor ought to be allowed to fly or sail anything, srsly.

Scrolls of Lore explores potential MoP details {WoW}

Mar 2nd 2012 1:03AM That is beautiful.

Scrolls of Lore explores potential MoP details {WoW}

Mar 2nd 2012 1:02AM @Spider--I would like that method a lot, too. I mean it'd be weird to implement but.

Lichborne: Divining the direction of death knight lore in Pandaria {WoW}

Feb 17th 2012 6:58PM @Killik--thank you. You summed up my thoughts exactly. Newbs, perk up your earholes, Killik knows his lore. :)

I keep wondering if the "author" of that egregious junk story (yes, I'm a he-betch, deal *sunglasses: descend*) ever played WCIII, or played WoW pre-Wrath.

Sylvanas was kind of a bizarre mama bear up until Cata. She was not warm 'n fuzzy, ever which is probably what's setting off the madonna/whore complex of stupids who can't wrap their minds around non-traditional gender portrayals. She was fiercely protective of the Forsaken, who--well, they were not her rangers but they were HER people, so she'd harass Thrall until he let them into the damn Horde etc.

And now for some reason we have this bologna with Val'kyr soothsaying and Sylvanas not especially caring for her people and oh yes, BREAKING THE PRIME FORSAKEN LAW, i.e. FREE WILL IS SACROSANCT.

She's no saint at ALL, but this stuff in cata, and that short story? It's retarded.

Breakfast Topic: Do you have a crush on a minor NPC? {WoW}

Feb 16th 2012 3:04PM Thisalee is GLORIOUS.

My NPC crushes: Thisalee, Tyri, Baron Sliver (whose name I misspelled forever), Zen'kiki (he's so damn cute, guys), and Zverenhoff (whom my newb DK got into a huge one-on-one sword duel with at the Light''s Hope event. I imagine there was witty repartee involved.)

Ol' Grumpy and the return of class-based quests {WoW}

Jan 30th 2012 2:48AM They seem to be pandering to some theoretical Lowest Common Denominator comprised of mouth-breathing /b/-rejectoids who shriek in terror at the idea of a woman with vertebrae (what, I ask, happened to the awesome of WC3's ladies), are not willing to work for dick-on-a-stick, and cannot wrap their minds around grey and grey morality.

Ol' Grumpy and the return of class-based quests {WoW}

Jan 30th 2012 2:46AM "I also think it's time that blizzard figure out the way to teach people how to play their class."

Yes. And - I know people's first impulse when they see a comment like this is OH MERCY HANDHOLDING!!!!!!!oneonezors!1! but it's not necessarily so.

Roll a DK, go to Acherus, watch Amal'thazad and his students. Read the dialogue. He actually has some solid advice for Frosties in his little comments.

This is not handholding. This is (a) RP-friendly teaching and (b) un-intrusive teaching.

Class quests used to do this. I remember seeing my dear friend do his Blood Knight training back pre-Cata, seeing him res Stillblade, then much much later waiting outside Strat for him to foooosh Alonsus Chapel because if I went in I'd die but I wanted to be around at least in spirit.

You learned by doing. This is what class quests were for.

And, Blizzard, only a few people seeing class quests piqued curiosity in other players and GAVE THEM A REASON TO ROLL ALTS.

Can we think a sec instead of just doing whatever loloz (looking at you, tomfool who okayed that execrable Sylavanas story that breaks lore and character *farts in your general vicinity* *yes, Geshtar is twelve*)? Seriously. Dismantle the buildingwide beer bong. ;)

Lor'themar Theron: In the Shadow of the Sun chronicles blood elven leader's troubles {WoW}

Jan 30th 2012 2:35AM I feel bad for them; I wonder why they didn't return to using the Sunwell as did Auric and Co.? Was it a matter of stubborn pride - they didn't want to have anything to do with B'elf cooties, and turned to this mysterious artifact instead?

If so that's an awfully big rejection of M'uru's indescribable generosity and compassion...

I am mostly just confused and feel bad for them.

How to fix that %$!@# mature language filter bug {WoW}

Dec 8th 2011 3:14PM If the language filter were smarter this might be less obnoxious.

It filters 'bong', for example, and some sentences in which @#$! appears in the place of 'bong' look about fifty-six different brands of obscene, as opposed to being easily parsed as a reference to Jay...

I suppose it could be worse; I once frequented a forum that autoswitched 'cocktail party' to 'weenietail party'. The former's definition is obvious, the latter just sounds like a euphemism for bad porn waiting to happen.

And there're a few places in which I have to type specialist or commercialism with spaces between all the damn letters l i k e s o because the language/spamfilter nukes anything with 'cialis' in it.

wtb smarter filter, pls. I curse like a goddamn sailor, but for those of us who don't and just want to quote Kevin Smith in peace...wtb smarter filter.

Breakfast Topic: How did you create your first character? {WoW}

Dec 8th 2011 2:46PM First character I ever rolled: B'elf rogue. It turns out I am just bad at sneaking.

Second character I ever rolled: B'elf mage.

Why the elfz? I loved the race's story in WC3 and the racial Arcane Torrent is bloody marvellous. Two second silence? Yes pls.

As for the names, I farted around with the names of various fantasy-lit-nerd prog rock bands and song titles until I came up with chimaeric oddball names that sounded sufficiently Thalassian. :D
