Patch 4.3.2 released today, launch your clients early [Updated patch notes] {WoW}

Jan 31st 2012 10:19AM While the change to preventing people from winning 2 of the same item in the raid finder is a welcome one, it still doesn't fix the problem of people who are already wearing set pieces and rolling need on the token anyway, either for an off-spec or even worse, to sell or disenchant. I've lost plenty of set pieces already to people wearing better gear and its frustrating to say the least!

Hyperspace Beacon: Sensing the future {Massively}

Jan 4th 2012 11:15AM PVP in SWTOR is an absolute mess right now. Don't see how you can proclaim they're doing anything right at all with it at the moment. Just a few of the many problems that plague SWTOR pvp:

- Ability/animation delay - This is the absolute worst. For some godawful reason, the developers made it so abilities will not fire until the previous animation is complete, or worse, won't apply their effect (damage, interrupt, heal) until the animation is done. This has the effect of making things like "instant" interrupts not instant, or worse, when you have haste gear, your cast time will be faster than the animation so the cast bar completes so you move and... interrupt your own cast which should have been completed. This is a systematic problem that MUST be fixed before you can have any serious PVP in this game!

- Rangeless PVP - Level 10 characters with 3 attack abilities will be dropped into the same PVP group as a champion geared level 50. The level 10 will have his health and damage scaled up to a fresh level 50, but doesn't receive any additional skills/abilities. What this hashes out to, is if you see a bunch of low level (mid-teens) players on your team, expect to get spanked.

- Unable to queue for specific types of PVP - You simply queue and you're handed a random PVP type. Can't stand huttball? Sorry chum, if you're playing Empire you're going to hear that dumbass announcer who can't pronounce "Droid" properly about 80% more than any of the other PVP types.

Those are the major annoyances. There are plenty of small ones, like forced cinematics that you get to watch TWICE per match on the Voidstar, the most grating and overacted announcing ever (which you can't disable) in huttball, chain stunning/stun deaths, map bugs, exploits.... the list goes on.

SWTOR UK sales take a dive {Massively}

Jan 3rd 2012 5:48PM One thing I've noticed, the 1 - 30 game is pretty good. (you know, the range most reviewers have played before writing their glowing reviews) It's not until 30+ that the game really starts to show its "still beta-quality) cracks in the armor.

Bottom line, SWTOR is an awesome single player MMO, although it seriously needs some patches to fix bugs. As a multiplayer MMO it's merely okay. For endgame raiding and any kind of PVP (scrub to competetive), look elsewhere.

5 reasons you should love classic World of Warcraft {WoW}

Nov 1st 2011 2:29PM Wow, that video brought back some major memories. I have very fond recollections of my vanilla WOW days. The game was breathtaking and majestic, and every new zone was an adventure to explore. I also 100% agree with the sense of community too. I started on Shadow Council back in February of 2005, and RP wasn't just a silly joke that a few nerds did in the corner, it was actively enforced and (almost) everybody took part. The forum community was amazing too. We had our rock stars and our ninjas, our drama queens and our cold blooded killers. Sure there was plenty of bad things too; I made Rank 2 Warlord on my hunter then got horridly sick from the grueling 50+ hours a week of PVP on top of a full time job and had to give up my quest for the High Warlord title, although scooping up Ashjre'thul, Crossbow of Smiting a month later helped lessen the sting a bit =).

The Queue: Extra strength {WoW}

Feb 11th 2011 4:16PM When I was gearing up, the "In-Progress" dungeons would drive me crazy... After waiting 40 minutes in queue for a dungeon so I can get some JP and hopefully some gear, it was always depressing to get in and find the group is on the last boss. I really wish Blizz had added a "rejoin queue" for DPS folks, so they could at least hit the queue again until they find a new dungeon rather than an in-progress one.

Granted, now I'm geared where I want to be so I look forward to the in-progress dungeons, since that gives me the chance to get quick VP without having to run through an hour long instance.

also... When is wow insider getting a new comment system? It drives me batty when half of my comments don't show up, or I get a "welcome, an email message with a random password has been sent to your email address" when I log in as an existing user.

Nov 23rd 2010 1:30PM Hah, tried to do a faction change for my Troll Shaman (so I could make him a Dwarf tonight, woot!) and got the evil error.... 'You must empty your mailbox before transferring your character."

Oh well, I'm still at work for another 4 hours anyway, I can take care of it tonight =)
