Apr 4th 2012 8:13AM I'd have to say the Kirin Tor familiar is my favorite. A cool way to obtain the pet combined with a puffy elemental model makes for a fun mage accessory. I also like Lil Ragnaros, just for the fact that I can use him as my cooking fire.
Mar 30th 2012 9:29AM I tend to use main/alt rather than toon when talking about my characters. Since all my characters have the same naming convention, I collectively call them my gingers. My main is the gingermaster. Toon reminds me of Who Framed Roger Rabbit.
Mar 23rd 2012 8:45AM At first, I felt a little let down by the amount of info being released, especially with the NDA being active. However, I have to retract that, since the beta came out so quickly after the press event. With so many people playing the beta now and in the future, an NDA would have been impossible, and info is going to be pouring out left and right from this point on. So I have to applaud them for trying something new in trying to get people excited about the next expansion, just like I have to applaud them for stepping out of their comfort zone and trying new things to bring new players and keep existing ones. How the new features play out is anyone's guess, but at the very least the build up has been interesting.
Mar 21st 2012 8:39AM As others have said, it would have been impossible to control all of the annual pass subscribers in the beta, so an NDA would have been futile anyway. This could also be why they put the NDA up for the press event, to control the flow of information early before it comes out in massive waves during beta testing.
I'm not sure I'll join the beta, the only reason I'd jump in is to run the Pandaren zone to see if it's worth using my 11th slot to make a panda, a monk, or both. Otherwise, I don't know that I want to be spoiled too much. It's so much more fun to be surprised.
Mar 20th 2012 10:31PM I remember when frostbolt and blizzard had a chance to root the target in place in addition to slowing them down...and I remember when deep freeze would hit for six digit crits on bosses...pre-Cataclysm...oh how much we've changed.
Mar 20th 2012 10:28AM I believe the NDA was absolutely meant to build interest in the expansion, otherwise they wouldn't have mentioned it at all. Again, the content released was not anything cataclysmic in nature (see what I did there ;P) to warrant the delayed release schedule. Sure, there were lots of details, lots of things to chat about, but a lot of these news bits were extensions of things from Blizzcon, or things that in the past just got posted on their website. There is no better way to build hype for something than to delay gratification. Whether it worked or not remains to be seen.
Mar 20th 2012 8:34AM I won't lie, I'm certainly interested in what's in store, regardless of what the doomsayers and naysayers are prattling on about. Still, I do think the NDA was a bit unnecessary due to the nature of the content revealed. The breaking of the world in Cataclysm was more dramatic, and they just released information normally. I do understand why they did it, given the state of the economy and Blizzard itself, etc. but I wonder how many people were legitimately turned off by the hype machine this time around.
I do want to say thanks to the WoW Insider staff for getting out all the info/links in such a timely and organized manner. Good job y'all.
As far as Mists? I think playing it is going to be the only way to see just how fun the new features are. I will say Pokewow? Farmwow? Killing Garrosh? Yes PLEASE!
Mar 17th 2012 9:37AM LOL, me too...God I still hate those heroics...
Mar 16th 2012 12:49PM Tauren Fan,
As far as the BOA's are concerned, I'd be happy with any solution that truly binds them to each account, whether it's like what you proposed, or even if it's something like the TCG pet/mount redemption process, where new toons can go to an NPC in their starting area and withdraw one copy of each armor piece once it's been "unlocked". Honestly, I'd argue increasing server capacity would eliminate much of the BOA problem, since people would be able to make more toons on a single server, and thus mail back and forth without a problem.
As it stands now, either cross-server mailing needs to be put in place or servers need to increase capacity, and while I know neither is trivial, one or both is going to be necessary, especially for someone who wants one of every class, or alliance/horde toons on a single server.
Mar 16th 2012 8:24AM I wish for increased server capacity for extra alts, or else true BOA items that can be mailed cross-server.
