Blood Pact: How to be a true warlock {WoW}

Jun 21st 2011 9:37AM If this is an earnest question, you can see that he's actually giving basic Warlock advice throughout the column. The first section is basically that living is the most important part of being DPS--we can't DPS without our bodies, as much as we'd like to believe we could. The second section is about damage and who we should give Dark Intent to (Spriest and Balance Druids benefit the most from DI, with kitty druids and assassination rogues lagging behind--fire mages are viable, but not desired [cuz they're mages!]). The third section is discussing who we should soulstone (preferably healers, but tanks are good, too) and the functions of healthstone. Finally, the last section is discussing that we should never, ever, EVER pull threat onto ourselves (even if it means reducing our precious, precious pain) and just let the tank do his job.

It's really well-done, if I do say so myself. Bravo! :D

The Daily Quest: Enough already {WoW}

Jan 25th 2011 10:12AM I would have liked more levels in order to experience more (harder?) content, but the path Blizzard took makes complete sense to me: They put a lot of work into revamping and balancing current zones and content for this expansion that they may have neglected some aspects of the game if they had five more levels of content to work and re-work. I'd rather have a higher quality 1-85 experience than a mediocre 85-90 grind.

The sudden yet inevitable betrayal of gaming immersion {WoW}

Jan 10th 2011 1:04PM I love the pop culture references. I'm already doing a million things that aren't WoW-related while I'm playing, so I'm no really "immersed" in the world to begin with. I've never really viewed MMOs as a serious role-playing venue. After all, you're put into the middle of a realm with a million other players all doing the same quests at the same time, with many opponents dying multiple times in just under an hour. To me, it seems silly to take role-playing seriously in an environment that is never actually influenced by your actions. If you do, that's your thing, but it's not appealing to me.
