Dec 31st 2011 9:12PM IDC if people rush through content. What bugs me is the ones who do, then complain there's nothing to do.
I mean really, it's like "Mom made me a big chocolate cake for my birthday. I ate it all in 5 minutes. Why isn't there anymore cake?"
The people who are complaining about lack of content in SW right now are the traditional "no-lifers" who can't regulate their doing of anything - especially gaming. They are the goldfish of the gaming world.
Dec 29th 2011 6:16PM NO to cross server LFG. I'm a WoW player that remembers a time before 3.2 introduced the LFG tool. At first it seemed so awesome, as I was getting groups of players who were steeped in server only grouping. People were polite, they talked, and we had a lot of fun.
Eventually, over a period of years, the lack of accountability has brought us groups where people routinely nerdrage, troll, grief, ninja loot, etc. It's about just "getting through" the instances instead of having any fun doing them.
Please resist the crack. It's bad.
Dec 19th 2011 4:40PM Look, you're going to have attendance issues with Firelands content now that DS is the new hotness.
I'd go with the split time option. If you raid 3 days a week, then have 2 go to DS and use a lockout to get Rag. I guarantee that you'll have attendance issues with FL content days (people will give you all kinds of excuses), so be prepared to to pug. Talk to some folks in the guild who aren't raiding now about possibly subbing in on those FL nights. You'll likely find a couple who would be willing to be on standby.
But all in all, re-align your expectations with the understanding that you weren't able to complete the FL Normals within the lifetime of the content. It's not the end of the world, but you're going to have a tough time holding your raid hostage to completing it when people want to move on.
Rag is a tough mechanics based fight that also has some stringent Healing and DPS requirements in certain phases. It's not a mark of shame that you didn't get it down.
Dec 13th 2011 1:51PM In terms of loot drama . . . honestly get over yourself. As a RL you're the kind of player that drives us nuts. I'm sure you're a good player, but you're just hurting your own rep if you act like the melting special snowflake. At some point RLs like myself determine you're more trouble than you're worth.
Go PUG firelands each week, and finish the quest line. Set up your own run and invite guildies to bring a toon that isn't saved. Turn it around and make it a fun thing. Maybe an alt run that you lead so your healers and tanks get to experience a different role and keep them from burning out.
When life gives you lemons, make lemonade.
Dec 13th 2011 1:42PM TYPO: Tank and kill the large tentacle in the back first. Then kill Deathwing's tentacle and any adds that spawn.
You mean "Then kill Deathwing's CLAW . . ." not "tentacle". The tentacle is already dead.
Dec 13th 2011 1:36PM I loved Uldum, though I can certainly see why some people didn't like it. I do agree that I didn't like the Snotz Farms questing for all the reasons outlined above.
One thing you didn't mention was the great mini-game quests. Leading the lions against the hyenas and the soldiers standing against the incoming armies in a RTS format was pretty cool. Also, I loved the artillery quest. It was a great little break and I hope Blizzard does more with it in the future.
In the end though, Blizzard abandoned the zone after the launch of Cata. We never hear from our furry friends again, and even the 2 boss raid seemed like a real throw away.
Nov 22nd 2011 2:34PM Cata isn't terrible. In fact, it's an ok expansion. I think the hate comes from the fact that BC and WoTLK were freaking fantastic.
There's a lot about Cata that felt like a backslide. A weak story (hopefully getting stronger in 4.3), a weak villain characterization (again, hoping in 4.3 we'll get some depth to Deathwing), the end of Pugging on many servers (we'll see if LFR can replace it) due to the difficulty, the longer grindier feeling heroics, and the comparative lack of end game content have all contributed to this feeling like the "weaker" expansion.
It's also of note that Blizzard made the decision to actually cut short this expansion and only go with 3 tiers of raiding content instead of the planned 4. And the fact that they are moving the game in a very different direction in MoP (some would say back to the Wrath model in a lot of ways).
All in all, I think if Blizzard had Cata to do over again, it would look very different from what we experienced. This isn't to say it was terrible. It's just to say that things didn't work out like many of us (including the Devs) thought it would.
Nov 22nd 2011 2:25PM Destro is more than viable in it's current form on the PTR. Not sure what you're looking at. It may even be preferable to affliction on single/double target high movement fights. Demo is likely to be our top choice, simply for the SP buff in 10 mans though.
I'm foreseeing a lot of dual spec'd Demo/Destro in 4.3.
Nov 17th 2011 3:55PM "BM parses are currently sitting extremely high on Heroic Baleroc, even beating out Marksman parses. (Crazy?)"
This is due to a bugged pet that can be tamed in an encounter. It attacks much faster than the normal pet attack speed. It's considered an exploit by Blizzard. They're working to fix it and will likely ban people who are using it.
Overall BM on Baleroc isn't that great if you removed those using the bugged pet.
Nov 7th 2011 5:25PM Smart not to include the well known faction icons. So many fanbois. This is a great way for folks to learn about more lore!
