Oct 31st 2011 8:10PM This is a real tough one. What's hard about the situation is that she seems "fine" with it (not that it's fine at all). She's reached a certain equilibrium with it. That's the tough thing about people in dire situations like this, it's really up to them to get the help they need, and often they just won't do it. It's terribly frustrating for their friends and loved ones.
The real question is what do you want to do, given how uncomfortable you are. Frankly, it's a real bind. If it were up to me, I probably would get by significant other on board and end up leaving the guild.
No matter what you do, this is a tough and heartbreaking situation.
Oct 18th 2011 5:20PM Those PTR sims were using the wrong spellpower coefficients. The updated sims show Demo > Destro > Afflic
Oct 18th 2011 5:15PM A couple of things to point out:
- Current sims show Destro slightly above Affliction and slightly below Demo in a patchwerk fight: http://simulationcraft.org/430/Raid_T12H.html
- Shadowburn scaling now makes it our hardest hitting nuke outside of Conflag. It's definitely worth the space on the bar. Whether it's worth the glyph may depend on the fight. In PVP (you brave souls who roll destro), it certainly will be.
- There is currently an issue where the imp firebolt burning embers overwrites the soulfire burning embers DOT. Not sure if this is a bug . . . no other DoT works like this, so I'm assuming it's a bug.
Oct 11th 2011 5:52PM Can he export his Vuhdo setup for us to download? It's easy to do in Vuhdo.
Also, would love to see his macros for priest healing spells.
Sep 20th 2011 11:59AM But I want to be Rory!!! That scene of him in "A Good Man Goes to War" standing on the cyberman ship is one of the best in all of science fiction. "Do you want me to repeat the question?"
Sep 16th 2011 6:59PM IDK, launching a hardcopy magazine in a time when magazines and newspapers are going digital (or going out of business) seemed like a bizarre move by an otherwise smart company. I'm a little shocked that they pulled the plug after only 4 issues (with 1 more to come). I mean, if you're going to commit to this route, then commit to it.
Sep 7th 2011 2:00PM I just remember leveling was so awful solo. I'd basically pull with smite or holy fire (don't remember which), then use my wand because smiting would have me go OOM far too quickly, and I couldn't heal myself (which inevitably you had to do because you couldn't outdamage mobs).
Somehow I stuck with it. And I'm proud that today, my priest is my 3rd alt (lol).
Aug 24th 2011 5:39PM Funny, this hasn't been my experience as a casual raider.
I typically get at least 480+ VP from raiding a week on my toons. Thus I can run the much shorter (and easier) Cata Heroics. The que times are usually in the 8-15 minute range, vs. 20-35 minutes for a troll heroic.
While the valor is 1/2, the Cata Heroics have mostly become wrath style AoE fests, while the Troll instances are long and still somewhat "dangerous".
Honestly, I think we're just going to have to wait and see what the new 4.3 instances bring, and it may be that like Heroic TOC 5-man in wrath, the troll instances lose their place . . .
It's gonna happen eventually.
Aug 11th 2011 2:40PM Frost,
Thanks for digging into this. Can you explain your table a little better? I'm not sure if the percentages given are the scaling above the base, or above the previous tier of gear.
For instance, if it's a base scaling % you're giving, then are you saying going from T11 heroic to T12 normal gear is a DPS loss (MM 11.09% in T11 Heroic to 8.09% in T12 normal)?
It seems like you're giving the % increase from the previous tier, but it would be nice if you could call that out on the table.
May 4th 2011 5:09PM Arms picks up even more dps if you throw the extra points into blitz and use charge on CD for the bosses with multiple hit boxes. EJ estimates as much as 2k in BiS gear.
Also, if you can stay on the boss for a long enough period of time, there's nothing keeping you from switching over to berserker stance once you get that initial rend up (though I have yet to try this).
My main is prot, and i like to PVP, so my offspec ends up being Arms. My co-tank is too lazy to have a dps spec, so in all the single tank fights I go arms (I respec before raid time and switch some points/abilities around). I end up usually #1-#3 on the meters, with our better geared (and very good) fury warrior barely beating me (thus far in 4.1, all of 2 weeks :-) ).
