Dec 4th 2011 8:35PM I'm actually pretty curious how the dragonflights are going to react to being suddenly leaderless for the first time in history. After all dragons still exist. Besides if the Aspects lost their power and were made mortal, wouldn't that just make them incredibly powerful dragons? Mortal dragons, but still big nasty and very experienced. Which of course solves the problem of how to get the Dragon Soul back into place since there is still a Bronze Dragonflight. It would probably take the entire flight pooling their powers now, but it would most likely still be possible. I think that would be more interesting than "because Nozdormu said so."
Personally I think this is a nice bit of lore. I'm all for having incredibly powerful beings in Azeroth but the point is that the players and main lore characters are reaching points where they may as well be demigods themselves (more Thrall and Malfurion than most but still). I still agree with the Tinfoil hat that the entire purpose of Azeroth was to slowly breed the most powerful warriors in existence to take down both the Old Gods, the Legion, and of course the mad Titan Thano..er...Sargeras. Or maybe it is the Old God's plan to overthrow the Titans. Who knows?
May 9th 2011 7:05PM @ Raid Leader
I have to agree with the general sentiment of being proactive and recruiting now. People such as that are like a disease in an otherwise successful guild. The longer you leave it to fester and spread, the more damage it will do and the harder it will be to cure.
I was once the loot master of a fairly successful raid group back in Burning Crusade. We had two subs ready, most of us could communicate out of game if something came up, and while we were never pushing into content before there was a new tier in general we did quite well. Then four of our players, over the course of about a month, had real life issues that changed their availability and we had to recruit. We got a single player like your pair who constantly whined over how things were unfair, how if they did not get the loot they wanted that it was biased, etc.
The raid leader and I had a disagreement over keeping this person, who at that point would have been easily replaceable. However I was overruled due to the admittedly fantastic numbers the new raider brought. A few weeks later and quite a few of our formerly tight knit group are demanding loot priority, showing up late, and in general just no longer showing up with the wonderful attitude that had gotten us into The Eye in the first place.
Unsurprisingly after two or three weeks of this the raid group wound up disbanding.
Admittedly it is an overly long story but the point is this kind of attitude can spread. The point of the game is to have fun and it is very hard to do that when raiding is the equivalent of being in a car with a screaming child for a few hours.
Apr 29th 2011 12:37PM Different ball of crazy yes but the same game of crazy dodge ball. Ragnaros is working for Deathwing, Deathwing is working for the Old Gods. So...that being said the Emerald Nightmare is being caused, if I remember correctly, by an Old God or one of their servants. Considering that the people of Azeroth have banded together repeatedly to overthrow the Old Gods and their minions (AQ, Ulduar, Twilight Highlands, etc.) it wouldn't surprise me if they finally learned from their mistake and started working together. These things have had eons to plan after all.
Apr 14th 2011 9:35AM I don't really think anything else involving Ner'zhul can happen. Admittedly I haven't read "Rise of the Lich King" but the fact is that Ner'zhul was trapped in the armor of the Lich King. I always thought that it was Ner'zhul's spirit, granted the power by Kil'jaeden, that gave the Lich King his power. With Frostmourne, probably a large part of that power, destroyed I doubt he has the strength of will to overcome Bolvar. Sure maybe after a century or four but I don't think WoW is going to just do a random time skip like that.
Unless the Lich King's ability to create undead came from Frostmourne, the ability to control it from the helm. Makes you wonder what the other parts of the armor might do.
Mar 9th 2011 6:42PM Absolutely agreed. My girlfriend and a friend of mine were doing the PvP quests in Hellfire Basin to get their Loremaster achievements. They saw an Alliance flagged for PvP near one of the flags. So they dropped off their flying mounts and somehow managed to time Killing Spree so that they would butcher the poor lone dwarf while not taking a single point of falling damage.
Death from above!
