May 20th 2011 6:16PM To those who think it is unfair that they should have to pay extra for a service that is not essential to game play, I would ask why is it more acceptable to to force someone who is not going to use the system to offset the cost of the equipment and upkeep? That would be like forcing someone who rides a bike to work to pay for car insurance.
The goal of a business is to make money, not to give people something for nothing. Yes, we pay $15 a month for our accounts now, but considering that price hasn't raised in years despite the increased operating expenses that Blizzard has incurred from adding and updating their equipment, I think that we're rather fortunate.
If they were to make things like non-expansion content patches a premium item, that would get my blood pumping. Features like this though, ie ones that are not essential to a person's ability to play the game, make sense as premium content. I'm not going to be harmed by not being able to use it, my game play isn't going to suffer any more than it ever has just because I don't choose to shell out an extra three bucks a month.
Bring on the optional, premium services! If I want more bells and whistles than what I get now, I'll happily cough up a few more bucks a month. I'll just skip that latte after lunch one day and consider it paid for.

This one made my morning, great shot and a great reference.
Feb 4th 2011 11:19AM I had an extra account that was hacked a few months back. I recently received an email from Blizzard with an offer for a free authenticator to help protect the account from future attacks. There were no links to click, just a set of directions on how to get it; so I figured it was probably a legit offer and I gave it a shot. I went to the Blizzard store, logged in with the previously-hacked account info, followed the directions from the email and sure enough, I have a new authenticator on the way. They even paid for the shipping.
Is this something that is commonly done or is it some sort of new program Blizzard is trying out?
