I wish that they would just update aquatic form to the Orca as standard so we wouldn't have to use a glyph spot for it. They could offer a glyph to turn it back into an ugly seal if they really felt that anyone could possibly prefer the old form.
Also, looks like I'll be paying more for MotW and carrying around reagents again because there's no way I'm passing up the form glyphs! :D
Feb 18th 2012 3:47PM I really enjoyed the Daily Quest and I usually clicked through to read the blogs. Since the Daily Quest disappeared I haven't noticed you linking to any player blogs at all, so either they've been lost in other articles or you really haven't been linking to them. This makes me sad. :(
It was also fun to see when my friend's blogs were linked and hear them excitedly talk about the jump in blog traffic they received.
Bring back the Daily Quest!
Feb 17th 2012 12:42PM When I was in college I had a lot of friends in the music program. Except I barely ever saw them because they used to practice 6-8 hours a day, in addition to their coursework. Basically, if they weren't in class, they were in a practice room. To me, that was seriously hardcore, (if not insane), and I bet most of them would agree. To them, I'm sure the idea of 9 hours a week practicing would be extremely casual. Even for myself, I used to practice 2 hours a day, and I was just in a little community band.
However, for most people, 9 hours a week devoted to a hobby is probably pretty hardcore. It really is all a matter of perspective.
Feb 6th 2012 2:26PM How can the guy be repeatedly harassing your players during raid time? Tell them all to put him on ignore. If the guy switches toons to continue to harass them, have them put the new toon on ignore and fill out an in-game harassment report, making sure to mention that he is toon-hopping to get around ignore.
Believe me, Blizzard takes those reports very seriously. We had a similar issue with a former guild member about a year ago. Blizzard banned the offending player for 3 days -- I found out because he created a new account in order to continue to harass us and complain that we got him banned. I simply put his new toons on ignore and opened a new ticket, explaining that he was circumventing the account ban. Judging by the guy's armory information, which shows no further activity on any of his toons, he was given a permanent vacation from the game.
If your players are refusing to put him on ignore, rising to his bait and getting angry enough to leave raid early then part of the problem is with the rest of your players...
Also, if you put someone on ignore they can't send in-game mail to you, which would prevent him from sending COD items to your members.
Jan 29th 2012 2:03PM I can second the Skada suggestion. I switched to Skada because I could not run LFR with Recount on. Skada handles LFR without causing too much lag. I don't like Skada quite as much as Recount in terms of options and interface, but it's a lot better than being unable to do anything because Recount froze my system.
Jan 17th 2012 12:27PM The thing is, tracking the highest level crafting mats over a few months at the end of an expansion is not going to give you a very accurate picture of inflation in WoW (much less so the high end BoE market). These items will have a decreasing market value as people gear up and/or purchase all the items available to them and as players drift away to other games due to end-of-expansion boredom. Also, in the next expansion those specific crafting materials and epics will be obsolete, so the prices of those items will plummet. A better approach would be to compare the cost of equivalent high-level items across expansions. (Or between patches if a newer, better version of a commodity becomes available, as has historically happened in the gem market.)
For example, if we compare what people were paying for the highest level red gem when it first appeared in Wrath (Cardinal Ruby) with what people are paying now for Queen's Garnet, we would have an idea of how much inflation there has been in the red gem market from one expansion to the next. (This might not be the best example, as Epic gems were prospectable and transmutable during Wrath, so the supply of them was greater.) If we then wait until Epic red gems (or whatever the equivalent BiS gem for MoP turns out to be) are available, we can compare its cost to calculate the amount of inflation between Cata and MoP. Doing this with a variety of different indicators at regular time intervals we could track inflation both across and within expansions, and identify interesting patterns. (Is there a down-turn in the market at the end of every patch cycle, for instance, and is the extent of the dip predictable?)
To clarify a bit, I think it would be important to compare commodities at the same point in their relevancy cycle (for lack of a better term...) If you were to compare the cost of a Queen's Garnet at this moment with the cost of a Cardinal Ruby in the closing days of Wrath I think it would look like the rate of inflation was greater than it really was. It would be better to compare the price of Queen's Garnet now to the price of Cardinal Ruby *when it was first introduced* and supply was lower than demand.
Of course, there is also something to be said for averaging out the rate of inflation across an expansion in order to generalize.
This is definitely a long-term project, and I'm interested to see your results. :)
