Gold Capped: Tracking the most frequently bought and sold items {WoW}

Jan 17th 2012 5:57PM In-reply to Aykwa :

Thanks for the fascinating analysis.

However, I think the point Fox makes could still be evaluated in short-term, and might show already some trend over a mere few weeks.

The assertion is that the trend would be roughly the same across all realms, because the root cause is shared regardless of the average population, save perhaps on realms with a population largely focused on PvP, or with a very low-level population.

Spiritual Guidance: The mechanics of shadow priest haste {WoW}

May 25th 2011 7:44PM Hey Fox, thanks for this column, it's interesting to see how deep one can go into the analysis of DOT and Haste. The numbers especially are sweet to understand.

Now here is where I find myself a bit puzzled : for my L71 Undead, Green-Blue'd Shadow Priest, most++ of the fights last less than 15 seconds. Besides, I trust I'm nowhere near 5% haste.

In fact, in my typical 5-man PUG, I spend a lot more time spreading DOTs and managing my mana (pit-stops to eat some faces - just got Dispersion and not used to it yet), than worrying about ticks or refreshing my DOTs.

Now that we've focused on the nitty-gritty details, would it make sense to establish a check-list on the top priorities to maximize DPS ?

Something like : ( assuming 5-man PUG, Heroic or not )

1. Must-have talents and glyphes.
2. Gear for stats
3. Eat to Win - food, potions, buffs, etc.
4. Rotations : Boss vs Multi-Mob
5. Macros.
6. Mana recovery.
...

Likewise, a global SP strategy for PvP would be also helpful.

Last question : should you ever use Fade ?

Thanks a bunch in advance !

Spiritual Guidance: The shadow priest's guide to patch 4.1 {WoW}

Apr 27th 2011 7:31PM Fox Van Allen, you are the most impressive WoW columnist I have ever had a chance to read.

I love your assessment of the 1337 enchants, and the reduction to a ration of "+int/MC".

Compliments !
