Dec 17th 2010 6:25AM I am Resto shammy. I ran throu all Heroics and got around 344 iLVL. I love new dungeons, because each of them involves a lot of team work (i would even make some bosses harder). So I was running with guild and with pugs. Ofcourse its always easier to do with ppl u know and can rely on, but all heroics are pugable. The only thing you need - a leader in a group.
Since I was leading WotlK raids in new guild (we didnt have core players that time) I got used to new Dungs quite fast.
For a good pug run you need:
1) Knowing of all CC`s available in your group (ask group if you arent sure about some class)
2) Tell each person what mark is assigned to his CC
3) Before pulling Mark most of mobs (CC, Primary target and Secondary)
4) Explain tank where to make LoS pull, when to run in etc.
5) Assign person or 2 for interupts (including healers)
6) Explain some specific mechanics if they will be involved
Ofcourse there are a lot more points that might help you improve, but those are core ones I think.
Next step is to kick no-brainers. Dont be afraid to Vote Kick tank if he is useless, better to wait 5 minutes for new one, than wiping for 2 hours.
Try to be polite, but strict if you are running pug group. Try to run more than once with same group (even if 1st dung wasnt best one)
I think there is nothing wrong with aggro mechanics, since as i said i ran throu many dungs with diff ppl. Average tank can hold aggro in any pull IF! mobs are CCed and every1 knows what to do. Coordination is core to Dungeons and thats what people didnt need it WotLK.
Dec 13th 2010 5:03AM If you want to wipe - than you can wait tanks to mark, people to understand what to do etc. Explaining people what to do makes it a lot easier.
Dec 13th 2010 4:47AM As I wrote before - you wipe in pugs couse you dont lead that group. Not all pugs are idiots (but some of them are ofc and easiest way is to kick them, even if that is tank).
Dec 13th 2010 4:01AM I am resto Shammy. After running all Heroics, can tell that most of wipes are couse of CC breaks (or no CC used). I think in Cata healers need to mark all mobs to CC, say what to interupt and so on. People don`t really understand yet how big mana issue is. Probably this will be solved when guilds start raiding, than its will be easier to compare.
The best thing in Cata I found for my self - is that I need to use more than just healing spells. That makes your job harder, but allows you to control fights lil bit more.
The next important thing for healers is to understand maximum dmg each player can get within 5 secs. That comes with practice only and you cant help it. When you understand how much dmg each player can get, you can understand how much HP he must have. For example, Shadowfang Keep 1st boss. You need to heal up to 15% all party until P2.
So basically healers lead groups now, since we have biggest changes right now. Wana make wipe free runs? Than be ready to explain people what and how to do.
